4:16:59 The Boss was being honest about everything that happened to her and her feelings behind them, but she had been brainwashed to an unbreakable point, like so many others, into an undying patriotism and loyalty for the country that has constantly hurt her. Even though she had every reason to legitimately defect, she didn't because patriotism and loyalty were etched into her very being by America and the Philosophers. That's the whole point behind telling Snake everything America did to her and having Eva explain the truth to him, and it's the catalyst for Snake later creating Outer Heaven, a nation for soldiers who have been or will inevitably be abandoned and betrayed by their own country but don't know a life outside the battlefield.

I cannot overstate how influential the Metal Gear Online Beta was to me at the time it came out. It was the first competitive shooter I really played and gave me an obsession I haven't found since; even future versions of MGO never managed to recapture the magic. I was resolute in playing the capture the frog game mode so I could get the coveted kero title, and keeping it was my main goal up until the servers shut down. I'll never get the layout of Killhouse B out of my head, that's for sure.

Goes to show people shouldn't focus too much on the "hate" of the people and actually analyze the situation. MGS2 is indeed a masterpiece and every game before it, MGS3 did succeed a lot on its gameplay part but the story did take some hits. If you focus on the main story, Snake, The Boss's legacy and beliefs, the theme of the game, it stays strong like previous MGS. But all of its sum parts(aside from gameplay) show a decline that it is very prominent in MGS4 and beyond. l would call it fatigue as Kojima wanted to stop making MGS. Personally, MG2, MGS1 and MGS2 are a perfection especially on the parts of the what has been said. l learnt a lot of things through the dialogue and life lessons, l loved especially the relatable parts(MGS2 did this a lot). They are lot of things important things said in previous MGS, you actually want to listen. But as it went in MGS3 and after, the obvious and unnecessary fan service(cleavage and showing skin of women to a ridiculous degree), everything of what has been said and shown, lost their serious factor to me. It reminds me of some other game series, l can feel it, but l can't quite remember it. Listening to a soundtrack of Command and conquer 1 and red alert 1, reminds me of how serious and beautiful it was but as the games progressed, they got worse, too fan service. That sad moment when you know the original well and love it for its originality and seriousness, to be destroyed away by fan services or "jokes" that the original did much better and more subtly. Encouraging the audience to actually pay attention. That is the problem l see in modern media and games. The "tell so much, that we forget the show". It is like they don't respect the audience's time, mind and everything related to the audience. It is like they consider the audience a baby, a child. You must have bosoms, you must have that X cliché or trope, you must have that stealth section that every game has it. They are no one-liners that are actually beneficial, to its medium and audience. l can easily screenshot lot and lot of subtitles that fit various situations in MGS2 for instance, l even do that with Ghost Stories Dub or Deus ex. But l can't find anything on modern games, it is ALL SOULLESS. Everything is derivative or the usual cliche . Reminds me a lot of Japanese games and anime on what kind of lines they use, since they love using the usual tropes, like the sexy mature lady saying "ara ara" or a specific voice emotion used by villains, it says "hey, that lady is the sexy mature one or that villian has that kind of laugh/word selection". My point is, it is all very predictable, copying what the usual knowledge people know at that time or what the current medium has been used. What Kojima did in MGS 2, is very unique, akin to Deus Ex 1. You can't copy it and nobody should say it was a failure just because the fans wanted something else. It is like what Snake said, find the meanings behind the words, don't obsess them.. l cry to moments that original games, what they offered, will never return again. The prime example(aside from aforementioned games) is Rome Total War 1; its systems, , the music ,the supreme authentic voice acting(especially roman general and everyone in the roman faction), the flow and freedom of doing whatever you wanted, without some arbitrary limitations. All of its sum of parts, helped make a game like no other.

Regarding the cure system: I’ve always taken the realistic approach of only entering the cure menu when I’m safe. Meaning, when there are no alerts and no boss battle going on. That alone improves this system by a LOT. I actually never had this issue of being annoyed cause the fights getting interrupted, because I always waited for the action to slow down. Maybe the game should’ve made it so you couldnt heal if you were on alert or on a fight. Or maybe if should keep running in the background while you heal.

Getting to the ocelot fight and gotta comment about the music, it's not intense but it's very time period and genre appropriate. The drums and surf guitar are both very sixties and also very spaghetti western, there's a combo of James bond music and ennio Morricone there. Also 60s and 70s action movies can have really awkward sounding scores going with them that sounds weird as hell now in a pretty similar way

I was a huge fan of part 2 and could not wait for this game. I bought it first day and was so disappointed. I wanted to return it, but couldn't so I traded it in. I know it's an unpopular opinion. I'm color blind and I know think that might be part of my frustration. Games back then didn't have settings for that and this game is so dependent on colors. I was so frustrated with it right at the start. I remember being so confused about what I was looking at. I'm going to take a look at the remake though.

When a game has a really good story, it should not be an open world sandbox style game. Rather, it should be more linear with interesting and unique level design. Metal Gear 1-3 are perfect examples of how good level design can be superior to open world sandbox, particularly when there is a story.

Analysis for that game are always welcome. The whole theme l see from AC3 is the decide, gives me lot of motivation from it, you got to decide if you want to move forward. @@kena892 but that's the point, you have so many options for things to do, that mostly only get used in those areas specifically designed for them, you can blow up a chopper to make sure it doesn't appear later, but that doesn't mean you can go around blowing up every chopper on the ground because that's the only one Blowing up the food supplies is cool, and throwing rotten food for them to eat is cool also, but you only get this combo to use on the guards if you are "trying" to take a guard out that way, and will not work anywhere else, or you know, head tranq dart move on, you're never put in a situation where you would benefit from this system, it just exists However the guards in mgsV wearing helmets to stop insta tranq, encourages you to use other techniques like CQC to take out opponents which is a fair response to every outpost being found having guards with darts in their head on the floor all the time
