I loved this when I was a tot, and every Saturday night I looked forward to seeing this. I remember one episode where there was a female robot and when she kissed Metal Mickey, she blew up. That scared me back then. I laugh about it now.

Can you remember the female robot's name, or what she looked like? They ought to show the series again; if they cut the number of Only Fools & Horses repeats just by half, they could fit in other things like Metal Mickey.

This looks more like one of those low budget local TV station shows. Here in the US, Philadelphia, PA had "Star Stuff". The sets were cheap, and the acting questionable, but it was one of my favorite shows in the early 1980s. Still have fond memories of it. Especially when the girl on the space station would insert a 45rpm record in a special video machine and we viewers were treated to old Laurel and Hardy clips.

I don't kno what Lucinda bateson would look like nowadays but i kno she would probably b around 52 now & i read somewhere on the internet probably that after MM she went to the USA & appeared in an episode of Hart to Hart & eventually bcame a TV or film producer.
@battywattywoo

Really? She'd be about 57 now, then; gosh! Well, she appeared in an episode of Butterflies in 1979 (snogging Adam/Nicholas Lyndhurst on the sofa), so yes, she was probably 18 (like him) then. As Lucinda possessed the same sort of prettiness as Felicity Kendal (who was very popular), I'm surprised Metal Mickey has never been repeated.

For its time in sedate British society and television, Metal Mickey must have been really something exciting for children. My own memories were vague as was only eight when I first watched/heard of it - As an adult, I have this on DVD and can't quite believe how funny it is! - May not be to the serious SCI-FI fan, but you can't compare it to 21st C TV and appropriate for the time it was made. I now have a high appreciation of this cute robot.
