There are so many people building with low (below 2/12) pitches and wanting metal roofs...we're in a snow area; we have freezes. But they're just oblivious to the risk and are more focused on the look they're after rather than whether it will perform well...especially on tiny houses, which often have absurdly complicated roof lines for "interest", skylights/chimneys, and are nearly flat to maximize headroom inside. The best I can suggest sometimes is "buy peel n stick underlay, and do half laps so your entire roof has a double layer...there, that's your roof...what you put on top of it is just decoration to protect that underlay." I think this trend is going to bite a few people in the butt in a couple of years.

Fix your attic bypasses to reduce or even eliminate ice dams. You don't have to loose that much heat to the attic, sealing it completely is not practical but you would be surprised how much there is to gain by doing this.

Hey I did some jsm at callingwood rec centre in edmonton, and even connected gutters at 135 degrees on those hip roofs as they are called. I also do acm, hardie and metal bldg systems. Does that make me a super builder?
