I wanna hear bass only, like so many of these other Cliff only videos here. Orion is my favorite Metallica song by far, but I'd rather hear this one bass only. Cliff only had one good solo in Orion, and it didn't last long. And, we can't count Anesthesia (Pulling Teeth). It would be kinda redundant, since it is a bass solo.

Everytime I listen to Cliff´s basslines...I realize how impossible is to get his exact tone..and that´s the proof he was unique! Lots of comments of everyone of us , kinda.: "Yeah , he used a Wah..! " or "Nono, it was a Fuzz..." "No! Best it was some Flange or Phase.. or a spicy mix of them all...." but...Nothing ..the truth is with him forever.. He was one of the best, ever! And that is part of the magic mystery! =)

There is an argument to be made the downfall of Metallica was losing Cliff. If he lived and recorded something similar to AJFA then departed, everyone would be convinced it was the loss of Cliff. There are a lot of reasons why Metallica took the path they took, but writing a single or cutting your hair is nothing compared to losing this guy. Just look at KEA and the gigantic leap they made and ask yourself the reasoning. Then he dies and the band changes drastically in a few short years. I think AJFA being the last of the 80's Metallica and then the sudden switch like that has me thinking Cliff's deaths stops at the pinnacle of Metallica. AJFA still had the spirit and music template that he taught James. After 88' all was abandoned and the man died in 86'

The first three Metallica albums badly need an official remix with enhanced bass and its crazy this has not happened yet. The technology is available and has been for some time now. This is proof of that. This mix sounds fantastic. The WB 2008 double and single re-issue on vinyl is crap. The recent remaster of Kill Em All makes the album sound quite modern and i noticed this when listening the other day on the radio and was like yea not cool to me. The most recent Master of Puppets remaster sounds okay. I have tracked down official original or foreign vinyl record copies of KEA,RTL,MOP and The Black Album since those all sound more natural and exactly how the band wants the fans to hear their past albums.

Cliff used yo have a guitar pickup on his Rickembocker bass before it disappered..Pox of the thief, so I wonder if he patched the amps together to produce his fuzz/wah sound into the mix with the Flanger/Phase of the guitars in a crossover fasion. So by raising the volume of the bass it brings out that in the track

Cliff used it on the track itself. It is almost entirely flange/phase/wah effect with distortion. You can hear it on the album version without changing anything. It does sound like there is extra phase going on, because I hear it on guitars more on this version than I do on the original release.

In the books, yes. The band wanted to use an altered spelling. Various reasons have been suggested for this; one being that according to the story, mentioning "Chthulu" by name (or writing his name) will summon him; another is that the title is to help people pronounce the word correctly. metallica.fandom.com/wiki/The_Call_of_Ktulu_(song)
