The reason they dont play it is cause it's really hard for james to sing while playing it. If you look at some of the old live versions of this song he even had trouble back in his prime.

This is perhaps the most underappreciated and underrated song by Metallica in my own mind. It’s influenced so much of how I play, palm mute, and even write. It’s even served as the “gateway drug” to prog rock for me. Yet, at the same time, I rarely consider it in my top Metallica songs list when that comes to mind. Whereas it should be #1 in my personal favorites. I need to start giving this song a lot more credit.

Having just recently lost Cliff and bringing Jason in only to haze him and mix his bass all the way down, I think this track perfectly encapsulates that entire era of Metallica. It's a great track but if they were to re-record it now I feel like it would be totally different and dare I say better!

I think it is due to the rhythm of the song compared to the others, this is a little weaker and slower, compared to "Dyers Eve," Blackened "or" The Frayed Ends Of Sanity ", which are extremely aggressive songs and fast, and that's what the majority of this album is, dark, aggressive and fast (my favorite in all metal), and I think it's because of that, it's a slower piece than the ones already mentioned (especially "Dyers Eve ")

@@dwarfshortages8265 sure thing! the funny thing is the first sentence alone is already triggering a lot of people these days: "Do you see what I see? Truth is an offense. Your silence for your confidence" Quoting statistical data and trying to be objective in conversations gets you labeled all kinds of "ist" and "phobic" and if you want to keep your job and a peaceful life, you better not do it publically these days. "Do you hear what I hear? Doors are slamming shut. Limit your imagination, keep you where they must." Limit your imagination refers to being socially ostracized every time you question the main narrative suggested by the media and governments. "Do you feel what I feel? Bittering distress Who decides what you express?" Same thing as the sentence above, you should limit your imagination and express thoughts and emotions only according to the socially accepted agenda if you dont want to be cast out. "Do you take what I take? Endurance is the word. Moving back instead of forward seems to me absurd" He summarizes this whole verse by saying this kind of system makes us move backwards as society, instead of forwards. Openly expressing your discontent with the current system takes a lot of endurance, you have to take a lot of shit from people around you. "Doesn't matter what you see, Or intuit what you read. You can do it your own way, If it's done just how I say" Your independent thoughts are meaningless and no one will listen to them. You can have your little share of "freedom", as long as you're not getting in the way of big corps and politicians - the real players who "decide what you express". "Independence limited. Freedom of choice is made for you, my friend. Freedom of speech is words that they will bend. Freedom with their exception." We're not free, our "freedom" is made for us. Freedom of speech is words that they (our rulers) approve and bend to their will. it's a freedom "with their exception" - so it's not really freedom, is it? I guess now you get the idea of the song :D
