Guys are in their 50s, and still they channel so much drive and aggression! And it's apparent they really put their efforts to sound adequately and to entertain the audience. Haters may bash them all they want, I think they are one of the greatest rock bands out there!

David Cook Lars is and always has been a terrible drummer. They also need to go back to using Gibson instead of ESP - they are the same company but ESP cannot produce the heavy-hard sound we knew Metallica for pre Load & re-Load
@nodave77
8 жыл бұрын
No the guitars are fine. In fact they were using EMG pickups in their gibson's. The sound is a combination of many things and those ESP are certainly capable of heavy and crunchy sounds. The larger factor is how they set the tone and record. I wouldn't say Lars is a terrible drummer. He certainly isn't the best but he does have a unique style and they wouldn't be one of the top bands and most influential if he sucked as bad as everyone thinks. Sure there are a ton of better drummers out there, but all he needs to do is practice more and actually perform the songs live the way they were recorded.

@Fuck Your God, I usually don't write comments, but this is one of the most ignorant statements I've read in a long time. As a former owner of two Gibson LP Customs and current owner of a couple of ESP guitars I can say that this is bullshit. True, every guitar has its characteristics, but to say that ESPs are not capable of delivering a heavy crunch is completely uninformed and frankly, stupid. Believe me, a Diezel, a Triaxis, a Fortin Meathead (which is what Kirk's amp is in essence) does not really care if it's getting sound from a true Gibson, or an ESP interpretation of a Gibson. At the end of the day, the logo on the headstock means fuck all when it's slapped on a quality instrument. Especially when said instrument has an EMG 81/60 pickup set. Gibson AND ESP can deliver a metal sound when paired with the right equipment. Also, for Master of Puppets, James primarily used a Jackson King V (with Duncan Invaders if I remember correctly) for the rhythms, for ...And Justice for All he used ESP explorers (with a 81/81 or 81/60 set, can't remember). I don't think that anyone thought listening to those albums "Very cool, but no Gibsons?!!?!?!". So please be a little bit informed before making untrue statements. No offence meant, but the whole "they need more crunch" thing means that they changed the settings on the amps, mainly.

I can ear James's struggle with his voice control. Especially in Master of Puppets. He tries so hard to be constant. And he is. It's a constant fight. He's tired. He deserves a fucking medal.

Kyle Hartle I agree 100%. This new album caught me by surprise and has sparked immense excitement in me. James has ruptured his vocal cords three times and recently, Lars has suffered shoulder issues and has had to get surgery which could have caused his drumming to suffer.
