This is what I like about KTF; he's not infected with old school syndrome. He doesn't treat everything in the 80s as automatically better. He has much better vision of reality. Bc let's be honest, if this song was on RTL or Master back in the day, it would be heralded as great

Definitely not true. I fuckin LOVE this album and Metallica's been my number one since Friday, Aug 29, 1986 - the first time I heard them (Master of Puppets on cassette). Immediately bought Ride and Kill, then every one since. I appreciate their progression- especially now that they've come full circle. I love 100% of their albums and I like 90% of their songs, and even have favorites on Load and Reload, as well as St Anger. As much as I love them- my LEAST favorite song (not the worst musically, just least favorite) is Enter Sandman. I know when I go see them in Cincy one week from today they will end with that song, but I will still love it that day because it's live. That said, this song IS one of my top 5 Metallica songs. The shredding instrumental at the end is my favorite of all their songs.

Nah, not "die hard" fans. I tend to say "stuck in the past and not growing up with the band" fans.
@NekroMcFly
5 жыл бұрын
Is not about about evolution or "not growing up" is about the old Metallica stuff is musically and lirically superior. Just that simple. Musically they fall down in the last decades and that's a fact that every respected musician could confirm. This song is not bad, is one of the few new songs that I kind of like it musically more or less, but to me that middle part "this, I swear" sounds forced as hell. This is not the smooth old Metallica that I was used to hear. Lyrically the same, old Metallica stuff was way more deep meaning.

Hey Preston, the KTF nation is growing....congrats on that...I suggest listening to a goosebump inducing song, with flawless vocals...check out Sound of Silence...the Disturbed remake version...to get a perspective of how great this vocal performance is, you may want to listen to another Disturbed song first like Stricken, or Down with the Sickness, to get perspective on what they normally sound like and how vocals on sound of silence is so mind blowing and moving....Keep it up Preston....Hail to KTF Nation !!

This was one of the rare post-black album songs, that I instantly liked. Most of the albums/songs after black album grew on me later, and REALLY grew on me.

Death Magnetic was seriously under rated. Listen to the whole thing, not a bad track on it.

For me it's in my top 10. I remember I heard this on the radio before the Death Magnetic came out and knew the album was gonna be great. My moms had just died the same year and she loved Metallica. I think about her when I hear this song.

This song would be in my top 5 of any other band. But for Metallica, it doesn't crack the top 10. And that is saying something because the song is legit.

This song is about domestic abuse. I never understood how the video related to the song unless it's insinuating political controllers that use soldiers as their pawns. But that's a stretch.

@@detached According to Hetfield, the clip won't be making any lofty political statements about the war in Iraq. Instead, it's a statement on humanity, helmed by acclaimed Danish director Thomas Vinterberg, who, along with Lars von Trier, co-founded the Dogme 95 movement in filmmaking. @@VikingsStudioProductions According to the article, the video wasn't Hetfield or Ulrichs vision for the meaning behind the song which was a violent relationship. It is a cool video, it just doesn't adequately represent the content of the song IMO.

Glad you did this one. As far as my top 5 songs that's impossible for me bro . I'm 37 and been listening to them since 1989. Gives you a perspective. I used to carry a cassette of and Justice for all around in my pocket when I was 9 years old. Anyway this is one of they're best . You've got a sub now.
