Crazy to think these guys are pushing 60's and they're still performing this good! James' voice seems to be more balanced and controlled, Lars is making fewer mistakes, Kirk's solos are on point and sound amazing and Rob's bass always adds to the whole grove of the mix. Absolute legends!

He’s always been great live but because Metallica is the biggest Metal band, people will always try to catch Kirk messing up and it blows up because Metallica is so big. Every artist messes up on a regular basis. It’s kind of annoying when people expect perfection, that’s unnatural.

I remember the day I heard this song for the first time. 9th grade. A classmate came in to class on the verge of tears. Knowing I was a bass player he said, "Did you hear? Cliff died man." I was like, "Cliff who?" In disbelief he sat me down and put his walk-man headphones on me and my brain expanded as this song played. I hate admitting that I was late in discovering Metallica. However, I was an immediate fan. The year that followed was my catching up and Cliff guided me in how I approached the bass guitar from that day on. In the tiny town I lived in, Metallica swept through it and virtually changed our music scene overnight. Went from glam band nonsense of good time rock to heavy hitting double bass epic anthems. There was not a band in my area that did not attempt this song in some terrible way. A few years later Metallica actually played here at the Lee Civic Center. Terrible place for music but had Queensryche as an opener. Metallica was touring in support of And Justice for All. Queensryche was Rage for Order. Was an incredible show. Im not a diehard fan but will salute Metallica for their continued evolution and more importantly for bringing Metal to the masses and main stages. Still one of my favorite songs by them. The studio version still gives me chills.
