So often, when your thinking of making some buildings for one's layout, you're unsure whether what a flat picture on a packet will turn out like, so it's nice to see these Mike all built up, and as you say I could well see people getting a lot of pleasure from just building a model village or a panorama another superb video

nice model Mike, realistic and I like the crisp, sharpness of the walls... the tips about the bottles is really useful, especially the clear glue...as always, thanks for sharing

As always, thanks for taking the time to share your knowledge. Nice kit, and I like the little glue applicators. Anything to make life simpler!!

Following your advice, I paid my first visit to Metcalfe's website today. Wonderful! Zooming in on, for example, the red brick engine shed I fell in love with it! Just enchanting. Similarly the covered footbridge you used on your town layout. Goprgeous. Also several others. There's a valuable pointer from yourself, for which thank you.

Another lovely kit. I've been using quilling bottles (fancy name for those applicators) for a while now and, you're right, they do revolutionise building. I can also recommend Roket card glue which I decant into the bottles. Cheers

I use screwfix PVA, works great at a fraction of the cost

Hello,another great detailed building from Metcalfe,looks so tidy when built and use a marker to fill in the white lines.

I totally understand why you find building these kits so cathartic! That kit is excellent and looks as though it could be a great stand alone structure but also as part of a complex, and shows off the flexibility and adaptability of Metcalf kits to a tee 🤔 Great stuff Mike, really nice review 👍🍻🍀

I have just bought some of those glue applicators after having fun on my 1st metcalf build. Seems like I have not wasted my money 👍

Nice work. The brewery should be a set of 3 buildings. I have them from a OO gauge base board and extras purchase I made last year. The detail if great. Unfortunately someone had built some of the features incorrectly. Your comment was very apt. Read the instructions. 👍 Happy modelling

That was the older set I believe, I used to have one. Yes I've made a few errors rushing and not reading properly lol

There is a tower brewery at Hook Norton in Oxfordshire. I'm not aware of any others but there may be?

Like you I love Metcalf buildings and absolutely agree about the glue dispensers. I have loads of them from ebay and I use a new one each time I start a new kit. But I find that if you leave them for a week or two the glue goes off hence using a new one for each kit. I only work in 00 and I find that some of the Metcalf kits look a bit small as if they were HO rather then 00. For example, look at the small factory compared with the Goods Shed. The goods shed looks fine but the small factory looks rather er..... small?

Personally I find the OO ones too large but I do tend to make micro layouts

Even with my dodgy eyesight and arthritic fingers I managed to avoid bodging it lol, but it was a close run thing when I rushed and didn't read the instructions!

That's your manly skills trying to take over. "Who needs instructions?" Never tried a metcalf kit, usually I avoid card and stick to plastic but I do think they have a good look to them that many other card kits don't have.
@BudgetModelRailways

@@tonypetts6663 I had gone over to plastic too. But the Metcalfe buildings were Taylor made for the layouts I'm working on , with no suitable plastic alternative, and certainly not at these prices

@@BudgetModelRailways Price is certainly an issue these days and I would imagine that a plastic kit for a similar building would be substantially more expensive. I'm sure I'll have a go at a couple of their kits at some point and as you say if they're whats suitable for the situation then using them is a good idea.
