Methamphetamine is a stimulant drug that increases dopamine in the brain. The drug's ability to dramatically increase the dopamine levels in the brain strongly reinforces reuse of the drug making it highly addictive. Long-term meth use can result in extreme weight loss, dental problems, intense itching, anxiety, confusion, violent behavior, paranoia, and hallucinations.
The person I interviewed has been sober for three years now. But, he highlights how his addiction destroyed his work and personal life.
