Yes I wholeheartedly agree with Method Man on this one. If somebody is going to play Tupac they have to really embody his whole aura and personality. Tupac is an awesome legend that needs to be studied more. Anyone who plays him has to get it right and I didn’t feel like the gentleman that played him in the movie was a good fit either. Just being honest like Method Man. I’m not sure who I could honestly see “playing” Pac. The man can’t be duplicated or replicated. Period!

It was certainly an upgrade compared to what Anthony Mackie did with the role in my opinion . It's been many attempts to portray Malcolm x and very few got it right . The same applies with pac . But Pac wasn’t authentic either. The whole Thug Life deal was a character he was portraying. A combination of his roles as Bishop in Juice and Birdie in Above the Rim. Those roles were so well executed and received that he chose to stay in character. Then signing to Death Row and becoming a Blood when he was grown sealed his fate.
@creditlessons

@@blacksuburban2410no it wasn’t. You know he did a Thug Life album under interscope records well before he ever got close to Death Row Records. You heard somebody else say that, it’s not true. @blacksuburban2410
5 ай бұрын
@@creditlessons Understand what I’m saying, friend… I didnt say that Thug Life Pac came FROM or AFTER signing to Death Row. Or maybe I didn’t articulate myself well. Thug Life Pac was a result of the reception he got for his roles as Bishop and Birdie (two iconic roles, btw). Pac was an artist and revolutionary his whole life… And in high school (School of the Arts), he learned what’s known as Method Acting. With that style of acting, you don’t TAKE ON or PLAY roles… meaning, you don’t just learn the script, practice, and shoot it. With method acting, you literally BECOME the person you’re portraying. Like, you literally live your real actual life as that person 24/7 throughout filming the movie. It’s actually extremely popular now. It was primarily used in the past when an actor was portraying a real life figure. But it’s also used in fiction at times (like Jaime Foxx in Ray, Heath Ledger’s Joker, and Jim Carrey in Man in the Moon). That’s what Pac did both in Juice AND Above the Rim. And just like Scarface, Donnie Brascoe, Goodfellas, etc., we tend to gravitate toward those characters. Same with music… look at NWA. So what Pac did was simply stay in character because of the reception the roles got.
@blacksuburban2410
5 ай бұрын
@@creditlessons Where Death Row comes into play is in the fact that Suge was really in that life and had a roster full of other dudes in the team behind the scenes who were professional gang bangers who have been doing it for real and for life! Go listen to the stories, my bro. They were beating people half to death for fun! They were making rappers, agents, producers, radio hosts all do stuff like drink their urine. They were extorting other crews and celebrities and much more! That’s why Pac is on camera in a casino after a Tyson fight joining in with a million dudes stomping out one man in front of thousands of people. That’s just not smart! But that’s what Bishop and Birdie would’ve done. The real Tupac? Absolutely not. But the person was taken over by the persona. Even ignoring the activist and revolutionary he used to be that would never do that, common sense would’ve prevented Pac from doing that. It wasn’t like his peoples were in danger or outnumbered and he would’ve had to leave them hanging. Nah. It was only ONE dude. There was no reason whatsoever for him to do what he did.
