Metra’s Union Pacific Northwest line is the longest of all Metra lines. It runs from Ogilvie Transit Center in downtown Chicago to Harvard, IL, with a branch line to McHenry. This line has service on weekends, as well as on weekdays in the opposite direction of rush hour, which is more than some Metra lines can boast.
We rode an afternoon train from Arlington Park station to Ogilvie. Because the control car always faces Chicago, we were able to see out the front window of the train, and record many of the rush hour trains passing us in the other direction.
