It reminds me 2002-2003 time when There was used to be meter gauge track between Rewari ( Haryana) to - Bikaner ( Rajasthan)

The sound of YDM s is so sweet we can't find it in other engines not even in WDMs. The size of loco and liveries are very proportional to human size and beautiful to watch. WDMs are monsters and narrow gauge engines look like toys. ALCO YDM s are unique. We Miss them badly. Feeling SAD

I, totally, agree! There was something so unique and charming about MG. I miss them horribly and feel that IR has robbed us of something very precious.

@@ManiVijay yeah myself grew up watching these beauties.my father drove YDM as he was a loco pilot and then become DDI in Madurai Division also with additional responsibility in Trichy division. ALCO engines were also manufactured in canada as Montreal loco works MLW. He was the trial and inauguration loco pilot for vaigai pallavan and tamilnadu express. I am curious to understand one thing - During MG days, I noticed that Dual YDM4s in NEFR were mostly LHF( Long Hood forward) whereas in other Railways it was SHF( short hood forward) . In 1992, I travelled between Bandikui and Alwar in the cab of the double headed ( YDM4) Ashram Express +Mandor Express. The first loco was Short Hood Forward and the second loco was Long Hood Forward. There was a Magneto telephone intercom between Loco pilot and guard. Now we have walkie-talkie sets.

Agar government ko BG hi Krna tha to pehle kyun MG gauges ko bichhaya tha 2007 or 2008 hi BG track construction krty kya abhi kuch part metre gauge ka he Agartala me

govt. ne 2008 me metre gauge isliye banaya kyuki tab lumding ke south me sare lines metre gauge hi the. Aur tripura vasi kaafi salo se rail connectivity demand kar rhe the. MG ane se atleast hum train me travel kar pate Lumding tak. 2015 2016 me sab metre gauge tracks ko BG me convert kr diya gaya. Abhi Agartala to Sabroom new line bhi BG hai.

@@makknowledge9089 Mai agartala me hi rehta hu. MG aur BG dono me travel kiya hu. Pehle agar hume agartala se guwahati bhi agar jana hota tha toh Lumding me gadi badalni padti thi. Upar se MG train ki speed kaafi kam aur capacity bhi kam thi. Crowded rehta tha train. Abhi BG ayi hai toh hum Agartala se hi Delhi Kolkata Banglore Jabalpur in sab cities ke liye ek hi train se ja sakte hai. As a railfan dekhne me acha lagta hai MG lekin passengers ke convenience se puchoge toh yaha ke log BG se bahut khush hai. aur electrification se trains ki speed bhi thodi increase hogi aur time bhi bachega.
