Did it ever get implemented or did corporate greed overpower the greater good?

@@TheDankEngineer Metrolink is one of only a very few railroads in the US that has fully implemented PTC at this point. Due to various issues in the technology (the US poses big challenges to PTC rollout, due to not having any trackside support) there are very few railroads that have gotten it fully implemented. metrolinktrains.com/news/metrolink-news/metrolink-one-of-four/

PTC is now mandatory the reason is Chatsworth. what happened that day is Metrolink SPADed a signal coming out of the Chatsworth station. We all seen the video before KZitem took it down Metrolink 111 departs the station just as a Union Pacific train is approaching the switch. Metrolink SPADed the signal and hit the side of the Union Pacific train and derailed 25 people were killed including several of my railfan buddies from the SOCAL Chapter. Had PTC been implemented UP would have gotten a diverging clear into Chatsworth and Metrolink 111 would have stopped at the station and remained there until the UP train had passed. Today if an engineer fails to stop at a station or SPADs a signal sensors in the locomotive will drain the fuel and trigger the alerter placing the train in emergency. To avoid this UP trains must reset the alerter and Metrolink trains must stop or Chatsworth will happen again.

PTC doesn't work like that. The Metro Link departed Chatsworth and ran a red signal. The UP local was downhill on the single main when they went head on right after he cleared the last tunnel. PTC would not have allowed the Metrolink to leave on the red signal. There is no "dumping fuel". It reduces throttle and dumps the air applying the brakes. But yes, this accident was the main reason PTC was pushed thru the FRA.

Sounds like a bunch of nonsense made to seem like they’re doing so much. But it’s just about job security 😂. This video just went on and on and didn’t even say anything
