O's fan here. I hated Santander for years, because of his defense. It was garbage. BUT, this year, the guy makes big play after big play. It's mindboggling. It's like he's a different player. You guys would be getting a gem.

I think Santander would be a perfect fit for the Mets. But I don’t think the O’s will trade him because he is the second power bat for them at this time (Henderson is the other). He has 26 HRs now (just hit 2 in last night’s game) and hit 25+ HRs for the past three years. But in the long run, I think the Mets can consider him because he really is a solid player, and managers and coaches say that his defense is much better than the metrics. As far as Hays - he is a solid player who has kind of been left behind by the young talent in the Orioles, but he definitely gives it everything he’s got.

Hays is a gold glove caliber defender. He plays the expansive left in Camden Yards which is bigger than most cf's. His power hasn't returned this year because he lost 10 pounds at the start of the year then got injured. He's a righty so that wall affects his power numbers as well. Tony isn't as bad as numbers look on paper. He doesn't take the cleanest routes but he makes all the routine plays, and is one of most loved players on the team by his teammates. He was there thru the nightmare seasons and still had a smile everyday. I'm gonna miss him next year and would hate to see him traded but it's name on front of jersey not the back. Just my 2 cents from a lifelong O's fan who married a Mets girl.

O's fan not interested in trading him. I understand he's a free agent after the year but we're in a position to go for it. And we have a deep farm system as well especially position players so while we definitely need to add to the starting rotation we're better off trading prospects instead of established starters. Now if we were below .500 then yes I'd absolutely be in favor of trading him but not in the position we're in now.

O’s fan here as well. Another thing, I could see O’s giving Santander the QO to get the draft pick compensation as I’m sure someone’s giving him a multi year deal.

Too bad Senga didn't pitch a few games up here before the deadline, to get a feel for where he's at currently. Hope he'll pick up right where he left off, but you never know with these Pitchers today, where any minor setbacks can take forever. I hoped we'd be good with our position guys, until the rosters expand. With Marte's knee issue, do you think they may try working him some at 2nd & 3rd some while rehabbing, since he was originally a SS coming out of the D.R.? Then he wouldn't need to run the outfield every time he's in the lineup.

Tyrone Taylor could have been that person, but they screwed him over like they did Tommy Pham.

@@TheBaseballHut Very simple. And it makes a lot of sense. Earlier in the year, Tyrone Taylor was hitting real well. He subsequently wasnt played for 7 straight games & lost his groove. This is exactly what they did with Tommy Pham last year. You were down on Pham last year at the beginning of the year like everyone else and came around when he started hitting. Taylor needs to be played so he find himself again.
