This entire topic of road/street tyres compared to off-road or tyres dirt tyres is just too complicated. If one installs tyres that are more for the road, as is the case with me, cos I more prefer to ride long distance, then I am in the shit if I decide to go off-road. But if I install something that is a 50/50 then it's bloody noisy and the tyre will shred itself to pieces on the hard asphalt. So, maybe something that is a 30/70 ratio would be more suitable for a big heavy bike, so just in case one prefers to go a little in the dirt the bike does not move around too much. But again I would prefer something that is safe on the asphalt as the speeds are high, rather than being a champion in the dirt. As in the dirt, I can ride much slower and in case of a fall be much less prone to injury or damage to the machine. Price does play a big role in choosing motorcycle tyres, especially for the people who ride around a lot but then again safety comes first. As fixing bones is much more painful and expensive, rather than spending a few bucks extra on tyres. Just my thoughts!

They came new on my Ktm 790. Good on dry pavement, terrible in the wet. Ok on dry dirt and gravel. Useless in mud and wet grass. Rear was trash in less than 3000km. Replaced them with mitas E10's, probably won't last any longer but better everywhere onroad and offroad.

This is the catch with the tire: it _sucks_ in wet, on asphalt. It sticks, sticks... then it suddenly doesn't. It doesn't warn you, like, for example, e07 do. It just lets go completely, entirely and impossible to predict - and does so on the front too. In everything dry, all I can complain would be much higher vibrations, than what e07 have, plus pretty crap longevity - but well, they are K.

Watched some ads for ya today. Good that you mentioned as a reminder on how some tires will affect your distances on long trips. Great tires can be a problem too when it comes to trips and your budget. 👍 I think Heidenau K60 tires you can expect a good 10,000 km on large bikes with mostly street use & dirt and mud 30% . Just don't expect to feel safe at high speeds 😁

I can only support this opinion. I also have an Africa Twin Adv Sport with these tyres. They work very well off road, absolutely no complaints. In fact one of the better tyres I have used offroad. But dont expect to get any more than 4000 - 5000km. If you want a premium product, and not concerned about mileage, this is a really good product. If your priority lies with getting the most possible mileage, then you wont find it here. This is all based on big adventure bikes.

I have this tires on the ktm 890 adv r (stock). The noise from the tires - I can't hear it. On tarmac I can easily go ~180kmh. In the terrain, mud is problematic, especially left-rigth grip is weak compared to forward-back. Overall good tire, but I will go for something more off-road oriented next time.

I bought a super Tenere with these fitted and I rode it in the rain and it was a bit scary. They were half worn and I have a long trip coming up so I took them off and put on some Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR. I also thought the tyres were too noisy for the highway as well. I haven’t had a chance to try out the scorpions but I’ll do that on my trip.

Hi, Thanks for this review, especially with the engine turned off! That was interesting. Metzelers are generally good performance tires, and even the street tires wear out quickly. I guess they're soft compound, so... Ultimately, they work out much more expensive than the competition within the same price range.
