I have one too. It is well made, at least the one I got. I did paint it though. All of the grounds are common except the two with the white insulators. Thanks for the video. I like to see what I am buying first and your review. Also I bought that Coax seal tape to wrap around the outside connectors to preserve them from the weather.

I have one of these but it is not cedar. Cheap, glued up chip board. I purchased mine in 2014. Wonder if cedar is used with all of these boards. Nice video. Got to always make the YL happy if you have one in your home. :-)

I was hoping to have one that passed under the sill, but the only one i could find only allowed for 50W. I push 100W with my 9700 for at least one of the bands.This makes sense as the gauge of the flat wire can only be so thin. So i went with the N version of this. "'m not a fan of having to block the window locked, but i don't see any real alternatives besides running the cable above the ceiling and down the exterior wall. I'm limited with my rental duplex, so this will have to do. I'm excited to have my tri-band vertical mounted properly outside. I can't wait to set it up!

Question, what do you do to lock the window closed to prevent someone from opening it?

They provide a stop lock that you cut to fit that you put in the window to not allow it to be raised.

Great video. I am looking to use something like this mounted to my wall in my shack. Well it will become a ham shack when I get my license in the next month or so. I already have a DX Engineering box with LMR400 cable for my Cellular Internet with lightning arrestors. Inside the shack I have N-Type feed through on a double gang metal cover but would like to move those bulkhead connectors to something like this. Any advice? Thanks for all your content, it has been helpful as I consider the hobby. 73

Do the flat coax cables work or are they a gimmick? Trying to figure out how I can get an antenna set up at my parents house so that I can get a good feed into my parents home office.

Great video. I want to ground my vertical antenna. How far should the ground rod be from the concrete slab that's in the ground. Also, is one ground rod sufficient or will I need to install more rods and if so, how far apart should each rod be from each other. Also, I will be installing a window cable pass-through and will be putting a ground rod outside of my window about 4 feet down from the window. Should I use copper braid to connect the ground rod to the window pass-through plate or will a solid copper wire work fine. Also; in the shack, should I use copper braid strips or solid wire, attached to each piece of equipment to attach it straight to the inside ground lug located on my window pass-through?

Do the connections need some waterproofing? I've thought about using a narrow board, drilling a hole using a hole saw and then mounting a rubber firewall plug. I could just make a slit in the firewall plug and then run coax with connector through it.

I have just one question regarding that GROUND. I've learned from you and others that individual items like antennas and pieces of gear inside the shack should NOT be on a Ground Loop. Just what purpose does that one ground wire, from outside, serve once it gets inside the shack. How do you ground each item, or do they all get their ground via that one ground wire passing thru the MFJ panel. Hmmm....
@HamRadioConcepts
7 жыл бұрын
Well i think you wouldnt want to run the ground to the radio, then a ground from the radio to the tuner, then a ground from the tuner to the amplifier etc..Currently i only have my radio grounded. There is no tuner now, no amplifier, and my power supply is grounded to the outlet..It would be the same thing as connecting 5 ground wires to one ground rod in the gorund, instead, the ground rod is connected to the feed thru panel, and now all the devices would ground to the feed through lug...
@dobson777a
4 жыл бұрын
The SO connectors on the feedthrough are mounted to a metal plate on each side of the wood. The ground is connected to that plate as well. When you connect the ground wire to the metal plate all the coax shields are now grounded to the exact same ground potential. I suspect the connector shield would be grounded inside the radio as well.

Brian Scott I'm not sure what you mean by upper and lower windows. in the video I show that I put the weatherstrip foam completely around the piece of wood and the window simply slides down on the wood against the weather seal.
@HamRadioConcepts
8 жыл бұрын
Brian Scott I see what u mean now. well I don't feel any cold air coming out of that. but a piece of weatherstrip in that gap should do the trick. with this setup it is much more efficient even with that gap than it was without the feed through panel at all

cut a board to fit between the top of the window frameand and the top of the lower window, this will lock that window shut. it will keep the passthrough board in place and stop someone from walking by and opening your window to get in...

Really? Could you not just drill holes in that piece of wood for your feed lines and such to go through? The ARRL gods are pissed at you right now for spending $100 on something that is useless. I enjoy MFJ products. I have an MFJ 962D, then I learned an MFJ-259C made the MFJ 962D a brick. But after an endless battle with the power company, I still need the MFJ-1026 when I swing my "homemade" hexbeam towards the north. But I'll drill a hole through a piece of wood before I spend $100.
