In 1956 the team from MG traveled to the Bonneville Salt Flats with a streamlined version of the MG. MG produced a series of experimental cars that were piloted by Captain George Eyston and took several world speed records. Several other speed record attempts continued with Goldie Gardner exceeding 200 mph (320 km/h) in the 1100 cc EX135 in 1939.
After World War II, record breaking attempts restarted with 500 cc and 750 cc records being taken in the late 1940s. And once again, in the mid 1950s. This film was shot in 1956 as a Californian driver Ken Miles is teamed up with Captain George Eyston and Johnny Lockett to attempt to set several new land speed records.
First an endurance and speed run - They set a Class F record of 141.81 mph over 1700 miles during 12 hours, and then the next day a speed record in the time straight away record of 170.15 mph.
