Very interesting! We really like Penelope and most everything that MGP sells to others. Yay, Indiana bourbon! ;-)

In live in AZ and I’m hoping with this news MGPI can get Penelope here. I don’t want to only enjoy this bourbon when I can bring a bottle home from out of state

I hope you do as well. If it makes you feel any better we don't get smoke wagon products here. I'd trade shelves stocked with Penelope for that.

Thank you for this informative video I have very few NDP bottles but have most of the MGPI line, standard Remus store pics are absolutely fantastic!

Totally agree. George Remus store picks are typically the best MGP for the price. Pretty pumped to see what they're going to put out in the next few years as they build their own brands and keep the best stuff for themselves.

I enjoy your infos & no double speak approach, in which I'm also in, but I suppose differently, as yours is coming across to me as very journalistic (of investigation). I have to say I'm disappointed to learn this about this company...I see other sensitive topics in your channel, so will have a look...Besides, what the "I" in MGPI stands for ? I thought it was just MGP...Thanks & Greetings from France !

Cheers Greg. So MGP stands for "Midwest Grain Products" and MGPI stands for "Midwest Grain Products Ingredients" It's the same thing, although many believe the I stands for Indiana since their whiskey operation is there. They're a massive company that covers everything from pasta to produce, but in Kansas, they have a distillery that is responsible for a huge portion of Vodka made in the U.S. and in 2013 they bought their distillery in Indiana which was formerly a Seagram's distillery (although it changed hands in between). If the channel keeps doing well and I can invest more in videos I promise you'll see a huge piece covering their history and why they're my favorite U.S. Distillery, but it's a messy history that will take some time to get right.

@@TheWhiskeyShow Thanks a lot, I knew a bit about their whiskey distilling (basic infos), as I have a bottle of /Smouth Ambler/Old Scout 7 yo which I'm convinced is from MGP), but didn't knew about other products & even more food. I love their juice usually. Hope you'll get more subs soon ! Looking forward for your next content.

Penelope to me lacks depth. The more I drank the less I like it, especially at the current price point. The toasted store picks are pricey, and honestly aren't that great.

I think the toasted barrel falls in line with most market pricing pretty well, considering most toasted barrels are overpriced (I'm looking at you Elijah Craig). Curious what your best "value" toasted barrel is? For me I'm a big fan of bluegrass which is ~$50 and 100 proof.

@@TheWhiskeyShow I've always scored Elijah craig toasted at MSRP, and was happy to pay that price. Now a a ECBP toasted would be next level......I know it's not called toasted, but same concept, double barreled, I'd have to go with 1910 as the standard and probably my favorite. Granted I've never had Michters or any Parkers Reserve, which probably are the gold standard.

@@traubgator damn, "MSRP" for ECTB is around $80 near me and you need to have a solid relationship to get one of the 5 bottles available. Seen it as high as $125. If I could find it for $55 I'd hop on that in a heartbeat

@@TheWhiskeyShow yea, I have a "knack" for getting lucky in North carolina a controlled state, seem to find one there once a year, enough to satisfy my needs for sure. It also seems to not be very popular for allocated lotteries in georgia, so for the ones where we get to choose our top 5 etc, I always have it in my top 5. seem to get one often. I think around $55. (haven't bought one in 8 months probably, assuming msrp is higher now)
