I forgot to mention that charging the sword is not required to perform the Ultra Element Discharge. But it will power up all your sword attack and prevent it from bouncing off when overcharged.

what exactly does they shield charge do exactly? its only for ulrta attack?
@nixzxin

@@marvikv2505 It’s prerequisite to perform a lot of charge blades move sets. Such as sword charge, ultra move, condensed spinning slash, etc. And additionally, your shield will be more powerful which makes blocking more effective and axe attack hurt more. You basically want to have your shield charged at all time.
@eivind261093

@@marvikv2505 In addition to what Xin mentioned: It also adds phial damage to some of the moves that require the use of your shield. Specifically, offensive shield attacks, and (I think) any type of 'guard point' - which is the powered-up defensive state you're in while you're in the middle of switching between sword/shield mode and axe mode; if you look closely at the animation when you switch modes, you'll notice that your character is holding their shield out in front of them for part of it - that part is a 'guard point'. Using guard point is the equivalent of having, like... two, I think, points in the 'Guard' skill, and can effectively allow you to go past the maximum of 5 points, in order to completely block certain attacks that you otherwise wouldn't be able to block without flinching or getting knocked back. It also allows you to combo straight into an SAED if your phials are fully charged - I'm not entirely sure if this counter combo relies on a specific switch skill or not, to be honest, but Counter Morph Slash definitely makes it easier to pull off, and gives the ensuing SAED higher damage than it otherwise would have.

Yea, CB has quite different pace compare to LS. There is actually a important part of CB, Guard Point, that is not covered in this video. It will make the game play much faster. But that's more advanced which probably need another separate video.

@@sgt_badedyr4445 Thanks a lot for your feedback! Your words motivate me a lot! Yea, guard point is actually a very core mechanic of charge blade, I didn't cover it in this guide as it might get very confusing for new players at the beginning. If you are interested, I have another video in the channel about how to use Counter Peak Performance to punish Gore Magala. Check it out and see if you can pull off a counter into Ultra Element Discharge. He is a very good monster to practice that move. kzitem.info/news/bejne/qKtp26t6mouGjGk

Even after 100+ hunts and having a good feel for the weapon, I still can't get used to the Charge Blade's jank. I can do guard points all well and good but the big challenge with the weapon is trying to get damage in during small openings where a SAED won't cut it. It just doesn't flow as well as Switch Axe does for me.
@nixzxin

Yea charge blade does have different pace. You can try counter peak performance, that has much bigger counter timing than regular guard point.

How do you not slide and maintain a position cause mine always like slides/ fade slash when hitting
@nixzxin

Hey. Thanks for the question. I can better advice if you let me know which specific combo you have trouble with. But in general, the slide can happen if you press Cycle with a direction input after an attack.

Situation wise, say the matchup is vs monster that insanely moves a lot like those Risens on Anomaly or Prims, is it really necessary to charge the sword? I am SnS player in Rise for more than 500 hours wanting to start trying CB since I'm completed all ele SnS build
@nixzxin
4 ай бұрын
Yes. Sword charge is a bit situational in Rise. There are so many different play styles due to the switch skills for charge blade. So it’s less used than how it was in World and Iceborne.
