The name Miao Dao means "wheat sprout saber", presumably referring to a likeness between the weapon and a newly sprouted wheat. Miao Dao is a decedent version of a variety of ancient Chinese long sabers, such as the Han Long Saber and Cutting Horse Long Saber. Miao Dao Skills have been developed by martial artists of different dynasties to pass down form one, two and four to our time.
