I may have had a hand in starting this whole thing. Back in ca 1980 I was working for Cougar Marine, the guys who tamed the cat -- more or less. Some guy bought a used Unlimited that we turned into an open cockpit with outboards; 4 420 hp special built Mercury's... They wanted a wing for the back, just like the F1 cars of the day, don't think they tested it in a wind tunnel... So I built a full width by 3 foot S glass/epoxy NACA wing for them, never found out if it worked. I'm not even sure what "working" meant. It ate 100 gal/hr and didn't carry enough fuel to get to Bimini. But it was pretty cool.
