Ok..., whoever said MA would be the next MP is on something. MA is a versatile sprinter, MP was a versitile mid distance swimmer. They have some similarities but apart from their name and their versatility, they are very different (which isn'ta bad thing at all). It's like saying Dressel will be the next Phelps 😅. Completely different swimmer...

I was just saying that when MA was younger, 13/14 age group to be exact, he held every single national record up to the 1000 and 1650. All the breaststroke, all the butterfly, all the backstroke, all the IM, 50, 100, 200, 500 free. He was the next big dude, bigger than Thomas Heilman and Maximus Williamson combined. Only did he have his dad train him his whole life at the YMCA, which he did a good job, but letting him maybe join DART, Mission Vejo Navadors, a team with other swimmers to compete with during practice may he have better results. After all, a coach can only train you for a max of 4 years, after that it’s best to get another coach, a new set of eyes, different coaching style.

He was supposed to be the next greatest swimmer of all time, holding each national record in every stroke in every distance expect the 1000 and mile. I think he fumbled a bit. His dad coached him his whole life, you can’t just have one set of eyes your whole life, if he joined any other team he probably would be better.

@@KyleMillisyea I mean his dad did a really good job, and MA is one of the best swimmers in the world. But I think he just had more potential, he’s only really trained for sprints at the like YMCA. I forgot what year it was, but the 200 IM he was ahead of everyone by like a body but on the last 50 free he died hard, I remember everyone was talking about how hard he died

@@sethaldrich6902 Dressel's 49.0 split did that for him. He should not have been on the relay after giving up in the 200 IM final and losing a medal for Team USA. As much as it is 'his life' he represents us as a country during the Olympics. Even worse that he didn't even follow the IOC masks rules since he didn't want to get vaxxed. Massive disrespect towards our country and sport.

You didn't watch the recent Olympic trials, did you? The next Michael Phelps? Phelps was never a sprinter. Phelps also swam multiple events, Andrew doesn't. Dressel is closer to Phelps than Andrew is.

i mean no real impact on relays, no real individual medals at the individual level at worlds or OGs....his career is just not that notworthy, wins some medals in useless events and thats it lol. I mean look at the true best swimmers of the last decade, Dressel under Troy, Marchand under Bowman, Milak... these guys train under heavy regimens and have incredible results at the largest stages...Michael andrews records were driven by his genetics and height over powering everyone else and then when he got to the big stages all of that stopped and he has never been a true impact swimmer and he definitely reads swimswam comments lol

You left out the part when he totally threw his 200IM in Tokyo. A true American Disgrace. He gave up last 10 meters, if you can't see that from the race video then you don't know swimming. He had the potential to be one of the greatest swimmers of all time- probably more so than Lochte. His father completely ruined him because he wants to fuck around with pointless 50 strokes rather than train for the 100 breast. An event where he was at one point the 4th fastest performer ever. Then didn't even swim it at 2023 World Trials and missed the team.
