Cooper might be the most underrated of the 80’s Lakers. He was “3 & D” , a “Point-Forward” & a 6th man before it was trendy. Basically, the man played any role needed in order to win. He would guard the other teams best players (because Magic and Worthy weren’t great 1 vs. 1 defenders). Coop made 8x All-Defensive, and even averaged over 7 assists a game (per 36 minutes) between 1983-86. As a Lakers fan, he’s one of our most overlooked talents.

I always loved Michael Cooper as a player and I was a diehard Celtics fan but I’m gonna tell you something about Michael Cooper he was one of the baddest dunkers to ever play the game, and Ann amazes me to this day that he’s not known for his dunks. He was nasty quick. He would cut to the defense and jam that ball so fast I really fail. He could’ve won a couple of dunk contests, but he was known for his defense that always shocked me.

4:51 I saw George Gervin shoot and make that shot when I was a kid. It blew me away. I told my mother about it, and she told me to practice it. I practiced it a lot and mastered it, but it still didn't look nearly as smooth and pretty as George's.

Michael Cooper was and still is a show himself. Way before Jordan was the immaculate Coop-a-loop and this man’s defense was the best. Period. His extreme reach and quickness made him a defensive nightmare for the opposing team. And if Magic or Kareem were not in high gear Coop was very capable of picking up the slack and pouring in 30+ at any given time. Amongst the best at narrating and absolutely one charismatic personality. Sixers fan here and I love watching your breakdowns . Honesty and a comical touch at giving us awesome back stories we might never have heard without Showtime Broadcasting and the Coop. Thanks Michael although I am not going to thank you for those Coop-a-loops you delivered to the Sixers. They were a thing of beauty.

Andrew Toney had the 46pt. game against you guys on March 7th, 1982, where he went 21-29 from the field, and scored 20pts. in the 4th quarter of the Sixers 119-113 comeback win at the old Spectrum in Philadelphia. He had that unorthodox jump shot, where his guide-hand was almost completely in front of the ball when he shot it. Great guard! Thx Coop!👊

Andrew Toney was the Sh*t! Ask any Celtic fan; in Philly we called Toney the Celtic Killer. Talk about scoring in bunches, Toney turned games around in just ten minutes, with 10 to 15 points off the bench. Really bad feet and unfortunately, the 76'rs management thought he was faking it. He retired early, too soon. A potential Hall of Famer, like Cooper says.

I'm sorry but Alex English deserved a spot on the greatest player list over some of the people that were on it. No player scored more points in the 80s than him. You don't see many people who were in the top ten in scoring for 9 years in a row, top five for most of those years, first in one year but still not recognized.
