Then came the commercials about "the war on Christmas" and way after that, "woke" became a political talking point over a decade later. They're so nosey! I think that this specific line of questioning regarding Mafia consequences in the Gunna's/YSL situation is careless and irresponsible Vlad. As a culture, we've idolized and emulated criminal organizations too much, and the last thing that's needed is for some young, impressionable wannabe 'gangsta' to decide that he's gonna enact Mob justice on Gunna on behalf of YSL or some misguided street code. Let those people sort out their own situation, and please don't indirectly bait bloodshed.

A question for you: Do you think music, movies and entertainment have a genuine impact on the young? When growing up, I always thought that was bullshit. Until certain musicians, actors and others who “got out”, jumped right back “in” and there were even those who were never in it, but only got into it after becoming successful. Though, I can’t blame entertainment fully. As, if you look at 1960-2010 crime statistics in the USA. They were generally decreasing, or at worst staying around the same. Even with the massive population increase, societal and technological developments which realistically should’ve just had a major increase. Take CCTV/Video Cameras and cell phones. Originally you would’ve needed eye witnesses, and for someone to get all the way to a phone. With societal developments, it was common way back when for everyone in the neighborhood to know which couples beat each other, and their kids. But that’s changed dramatically. ( you stil know. But in the past it was “it’s just how it is.”) But, how we got fucked was because news outlets get more viewers when the news is scary. It became common place to use intentionally inaccurate statistical information, or to even manipulate graphs. Plenty of anchors would say “Crime is worse than it’s been in 10 years!” Even when the ones all numbers were down, but the rate of which they decreased just wasn’t as significant. And so, because people are scared and because people think things were worse than they actually were, and when something was actually working but it was sold as if it wasn’t. Of course shut eonr her better. This is a pretty different conversation than what you originally posted about. Which I do agree with you on by the way. And Vlad absolutely knows what he’s doing. But he regularly takes the position “Well I didn’t force anyone to do anything, I’m just “interviewing”. He’s sure as shit educated well enough to know what instigating is. He should be ashamed. When I was younger I thought it was absurd to blame entertainment for impacting the youths relationship to crime and violence. But, now that we’ve seen so many successful people who got “out”, only to get back “in.” And even those who were never “in” but once they got success they did so. It’s hard to argue that there’s absolutely -no- correlation. And Vlad is by far one of the worst offenders. Why? Because he instigates, he encourages this sort of behavior. “If you do sone thing bad enough you’ll get to talk to vlad!” And there have been multiple Vlad employees that spoke about this exact sort of thing. They weren’t even disgruntled, but to be fair one of them seemed to be. But the other, just got fed up with being forced to ask these sorts of questions, do research on these sorts of topics, encouraged to get people to talk about things they shouldn’t. I sincerely wish Vlad would recognize he would still have a massive following if he stayed away from this. Not even completely, but just not making it his main focus. As plenty of us, just find his guests to be interesting. Sorry for the long rant. I just wanted ti clarify where the first part of my comment came from. Though it’s doubtful this will be read.
@mikehunt9884

yeah but it kind of is a relevant question, because a lot of mob guys had to deal with plea deals and guys having to go in front of a judge and basically admit that there really is a "cosa nostra" and at which point do they consider a snitch, cause doing the elocution, i think some bosses might even tolerate guys taking plea deals nowadays, but during his time everybody had to basically fight their cases or else they couldn't go back to that life.

Wasn't rap that did this it was drugs. We had gangs and unity before we had guns in our communities. It was always going out of home town area hustle and bring it back to the hood. That changed when drugs came in the 70s by way of raegan and ollie north. After that they created prison pipelines what's convenient all of this happen right after the civil rights movement which wasn't by mistake the leaders of this country wanted this to happen. Black folk were peaceful white folk were hippie music lovers. When they released drugs they destroyed millions. Then our country did this to China Vietnam India Africa and Central America. @@destytayzo77 Not really. Like I said, it was the Tony Montana character/persona that minority groups mostly looked up to. Also a lot of the black cultural attitudes towards snitching are basically unique to them and came from either a rejection of or some kind of relational response to the popular prison book called The Art of War. That book is the whole reason why white, latino and asian gangs are "allowed" to snitch on their enemies but not on their own whereas black gangs aren't 'supposed' to snitch on anyone or give the police any information at all. It's more of a contempt for communication police rather than an adoption of organized crime Mafia codes.

Times changed. Being a rat ruined the reputation of yourself and your family name if you flipped back then, plus they were killing witnesses and snitches because they could get away with it. After RICO took down the old timer bosses in the 80's, along with police technology and surveillance improved with DNA, the life couldn't be what it was anymore. Back in the day, it was no body no crime, and witnessed who came forward were killed or minded their own business. RICO also made rats because the sentences are so extreme that a lot of guys don't want to do them and they began flipping left and right by the early 90's like Sammy the Bull or Al D'Arco. The guys are still out there in NYC, Chicago, Philly, and pockets elsewhere doing their thing, but they realized that quietly making money is more important than bringing heat with violence and bodies left on the street.
