Michael Jackson - "Forever" ♾️
Available on KZitem, August 29th! 📅
I also wanted to take the time to clear up why I decided to re-release & remaster it. The reason why is because, well, it’s my first born. 💁🏾♂️ It’s the first MJ 80s remix I did, and much like the connection Michael had for Billie Jean since the day he first performed it at Motown 25, I feel the same for this. "Victory In Moscow" is where it all started. And over time, I was no longer happy with the way it sounded, and I often cringe whenever I hear it. 😅 So I figured in the spirit of the new album, I'd update & remaster it, with care obviously, to better fit sonically with the rest of the project when you listen to it in full.
Of course the old version still holds a place in my heart though. I don’t hate it or anything, it’s not like I’ve deleted it or plan to take it down from KZitem, so nobody feel bad if you still love that one. 🖤 I just figured when I started finalizing the upcoming album, that it was time to take a stab at updating it to better match the vision of it that was really in my head at the time that I first made the original, because I love “Party All The Time”, it’s one of my favorite 80s songs and Rick James is one of my idols, perhaps one of my biggest influences for getting into 80s style production. 🔥🎹 But the vocals are left untouched, as I felt that was one of the most memorable parts. 🎤👌🏾

The original version of “Stranger In Moscow” was leaked by American producer Eulonzo on January 28th, 2020, but was rumored to be floating around the internet in 2019. "Victory In Moscow" is also the alternate title.
Although most fans are familiar with the final version from the HIStory album, it has been revealed that “Stranger In Moscow” was originally written & recorded as far back as 1979. This version, along with unreleased songs like Hot Street, Got The Hots, etc were some of many songs he had been working on during the early-mid 80s that never got released.
After releasing Off The Wall, Jackson felt deeply unhappy; he said, "Even at home, I'm lonely. I sit in my room sometimes and cry. It's so hard to make friends... I sometimes walk around the neighborhood at night, just hoping to find someone to talk to. But I just end up coming home.” It’s assumed this is what originally inspired him to write the song. He recorded a rough demo in 1979 but never worked on it again until he started recording for Thriller.
He wrote & recorded a new demo in 1982 during the Thriller sessions at Westlake Recording Studios in Los Angeles, CA but never went back to it until 1985. After the Pepsi commercial incident in 1984, Michael felt inspired to work on it again and went back to the song & wrote new lyrics as well as rerecorded new vocals. It is unknown the date of when he made the rough demo and if it still exists.
In between working on Captain EO as well as the Bad album, he began working more on the song, this time with the help of the late Rick James, who also produced “Party All The Time” for Eddie Murphy. The song was finished by late 1985 but ultimately shelved it. It wasn’t until September of 1993 when he made a new demo during the Dangerous Tour’s third leg when he made a stop in Moscow. Elements of the demo was featured in the Sonic 3 video game that he composed the music for. He worked more on the new version from February to March of 1994, which is the version that was on the HIStory album. It was released as the final single for HIStory on November 4th, 1996 but wasn’t released worldwide until July 7th, 1997. It was performed on the HIStory World Tour in 1996-1997.
