I still dont understand how people compare lebron to jordan? Lebron's basketball skills and capabilities are not even close to what michael's had.
@boogieloo1831
6 жыл бұрын
un4got10 - because ESPN and media hypes up LBJ. They speak in generalities and use catchphrases like, "fastest, strongest player ever" when describing LBJ. What they mean is he's PROBABLY the overall fastest(?), strongest small forward ever. It's shameless sensationalism at its finest and they literally advocate for him - they've lost all semblance of objectivity that media is supposed to have. Youngsters accept these generalizations as truths which is just so naive and ridiculous. Plus, you need to understand basketball in more detail than most fans do to recognize the differences between MJ and LBJ. LBJ uses brute force to barrel to the hoop. This works in today's game as no big men camp out in the paint in today's NBA because of today's rules. LBJ feasts on the on court conditions of today's NBA whereas MJ played in a much tougher NBA - it's why he needed all of his moves and skills. If MJ played today, he'd never have to even use half of his moves as the NBA now is all open court basketball - so much easier.
@Nkosinati

un4got10 ...Certainly no comparison as a scorer. This is a masterclass i. the art of separation. MJ teaches how to get separation in front of his defender, behind him, to the right of him, to the left of him, over him, and even under him.

In all honesty can you imagine what Jordan would have done in today's league. They pretty much changed the rules to benefit the new superstars of the league because they couldn't produce like Mike did in a more physical era. He would literally be at the line 20 times a game. Ridiculous!
@boogieloo1831
5 жыл бұрын
un4got10 - also, too many fans today don't know what skills are. They think just shooting threes and having a crossover are skills. Anybody can do those things. They don't recognize footwork, creating space etc because they don't know the game in a nuanced manner - casual fans are 90% of the fan base.

It's called marketing jeez. I love how in the 80s we have the pure physical skill of Jordan on full display. Then, in the 90s we get the cerebral Jordan, still very athletic but he used his mental to leave defenders unable to figure out which way he was gonna fade or if he was gonna pull up for that unstoppable jumper. Every once and a while he’d remind us he could still fly. T.B.E.

If you want a sporting equivalent of what Michael Jordan was like as a basketball player, its like the mental strength and athletic ability of Rafael Nadal, combined with the shot making creativity, graceful and efficient movement, and consistency of Roger Federer (the greatest Tennis player of alltime). It still hard to believe some of the things MJ did in the game, and he brought that heat every time he stepped on the court. He was never satisfied. He never lost the hunger, desire & passion.
@bolder2009

@yeon723 It was smart to create the majority of his offence from within the arch. Shooting within that range helped him to keep a high field goal percentage, averaging around 50% from the field for most of his career. That's efficient and intelligent basketball.

His fade-away was the best ever! Totally unstoppable. The opposing team is always anticipated his drive to the basket for a dunk, but he pulls up and hits the fade-away. MJ didnt just elevate the game of his teammates, he elevated the game of the WHOLE damn league. just think if you were the one that was supposed to guard him that week, that probably did things mentally to his opponents that you would never be able to capture on film, until the moment hes making them look stupid. my point being the day MJ laced them up for the fist time in the NBA, the league started to change. its equivalent to the moment people heard Hendrix.
