Check out Lenin's "National Pride of the Great Russians," even if America ain't a nation but a collection of nations. He says we should absolutely take pride in our art, language. We should uphold our progressive political traditions. And we should hate our slavish past, being used by the ruling class to injur other people, and the ruling class that injurs us. The Chinese probably been influenced by this idea, cuz the Black Panthers basically had this attitude and they was influenced heavily by China and their national policy. The reason we need to use dialectics is because reality is dialectical. Figures George Washington or Thomas Jefferson are rightfully criticized for their slaveholding hypocrisy. But the American revolution influenced the French and Haitian revolutions, inspired Ho Chi Minh, was upheld by Lenin, because bourgeois ideas back then were progressive. And the "Founding Fathers" ain't just these dudes, but Harriet Tubman, Nat Turner, Sitting Bull, John Brown. We constantly in a state of destroying and rebuilding the foundation, of re-founding. The job of the new American Revolutionaries is to recognize what the Panthers did: we must synthesize Sitting Bull, Nat Turner, and Thomas Jefferson into a new American civilizational project representing the best most truly progressive aspects of all the peoples of this land. That's real patriotism.

Parenti says it's wrong to see the state as an absolute evil. But why then can we see capitalism as an absolute evil? And don't tell me there's no such thing as absolute evil - parenti says there is such a thing as sin, and if he can make claims like that so can we. Anarchists are correct, if you give the state an inch, they will implement surveillence systems, war machines, cullings, competition, and, eventually, they will re-implement capitalism, as has happened in all socialist states.

@@onanysundrymule3144 based is a dogwhistle popularized by the alt-right throughout the mid and late 2010s. It's used to describe an opinion or statement that is made without fear of social repercussions, "telling it like it is", in a way. It gained traction among image boards and forums colonized by the right like 4chan or KiwiFarms, respectively. As you can imagine, it was often used whenever someone stated an extremely bigoted opinion, usually with racist or sexist implications, as a way of indicating that the person was "stating the truth without fear of being ostracized by (insert whatever political boogeyman the right has manufactured throughout history)". These days the word is being used ironically in many leftist online spaces to the point of having sort of a memey resurgence. If you want to know why we don’t have discussions about class in modern society, look no further than at 1H 14M of this clip. The woman asked a question about how “super patriotism” benefits men more than women. After a riveting discussion about class and social structures, the lady has to ask about gender. I understand this is from 30+ years ago but it shows you how easily the water gets muddy. Whether it’s racism, feminism, or anything else, pay attention to how easily it get inserted into conversations about class when class has nothing to do with those things. Frankly the ruling class keeps those things in the zeitgeist to keep us from having actual conversations about class. It’s sad y’all.

Hopefully it has progressed in understanding of harm reduction. However he was right about how the drugs poured into the communities and reaped havoc on them. It wasn’t an accident our government knew and facilitated drug trafficking. Every one else got stuck holding the bag. He had part of the puzzle that it was used as a tool disproportionately against poor minority communities. Drugs and poverty were a horrible combination. I would think now Parenti would have an evolved view on this matter now. This lecture was from 88 the crack epidemic was in full swing.
