Thanks for posting! I first heard MS in 1978 playing Rock Bottom on the radio in Seattle, WA, then saw him in 1981 with Cozy Powell in Oakland, CA, saw him in 1998 with the original UFO lineup in Palo Alto, CA. and I saw him with all singers btw 1981-2019. I must have been to 20+ MS gigs. Michael never gets old, and he continues to Rock On!

This guy is like the typical super focused genius who can't really function in normal society. It's amazing he's survived this long with all the drama, bad life choices and confounding behavior. Bringing a ventriloquist dummy on tour (UFO), stumbling out of gigs drunk and walking down back alleys being guided home by security, walking out of many gigs, so drunk on stage he couldn't play (it's on youtube), threatening to burn his own house down (1982) if he didn't get more coke, drug addiction, alcoholism, bad business acumen, going on useless hunger strikes, still rampaging about his brother Rudolf (read MS himself website for some laughs where he actually makes a list of all the things his brother stole off him). He's had kids with every woman he's ever met who later took his money and sold his guitars, reducing him to poverty. Even today, he wears a Siberian fur hat on stage for years and years. Why? By all accounts, he should have been dead 20 years ago. This is a guy who didn't even know he was supposed to get paid for live gigs until the early 90s. I can't comprehend that. Just a fascinating musical and psychological case study of extremes. In the end, it's inspiring to see he got through all of this, is still dedicated to pure creativity, and still playing really well at age 69. Seriously, which guitarists from the 70's are left that are even a shadow of their former selves? Some of these solos are even better than what he played 40 years ago, and that's really impressive.

No one's yet written a biography of Schenker, yet he's more talented and interesting than 99% of celebrities. By the way, he actually DID set fire to his house! It was in late 1984. I think the house is in Watlington, Oxon. He was pictured just after the incident with Rudolph and Barbara, holding a fire-extinguisher. Only MS...

Before Eddie. Before Yngwie. Before Lynch. Before McCalpine. Before the hordes of sweep-demon-dopes made albums in their bedrooms; the Rolling Stones wanted him. Deep Purple wanted him. But his brother wanted him in the band he co- founded with Michael in 1971; the Scorpions, wanted him, Thin Lizzy wanted Michael Schenker. Before all of the formentioned, Michael was playing to the sold out sheds and stadiums of America, Europe, and Japan along with Jimmy Page/ John Paul Jones/ John Henry Bonham/ Robert Plant, Ritchie Blackmore, Brian May & Freddie Mercury, Mick Ronson, Angus & Malcom Young, Buck Dharma, Rick Neilson, Phil Lynott/Scott Gorham/ Brian Robertson, Denny Laine/ Jimmy McCullough/ Paul McCartney, Pete Townsend & John Entwistle, for Heaven's sake. He still looks and plays just like he did in 1974-75. Lonesome Crow, Lovedrive, Phenomenon, Lights Out, Force It, Strangers In The Night, the acoustic Thank You series of releases... With Michael Schenker you don't have to read or hear about Ferraris, Lamborghini's or Claudio's Los Angeles Lamborghini Dealership or Sammy Hagar, weight loss corporation/actress wives, Schlitz Malt Liquor, Heineken and cocaine or ANY of that bull shit. Pure music and that's it.

In my opinion, Michael Schenker, Frank Marino, and Ronnie Montrose are the top 3 under appreciated guitarists in Rock n Roll. In this country anyway. Schenker's so good. Kirk Hammett acted like nervous child when he met Michael Schenker.

Sad to have missed this show. Michael is the greatest of them all imho. It is great to see him on top form. I must confess I was slightly put off by the three singers thing on the previous tour, I know it was done for a reason but it gave that show a slightly disjointed feel to me. Thanks for posting this, it's very much appreciated. Just to mention that the set list above is incomplete. After Shoot Shoot there is a McAuley era number I am unfamiliar with, then On & On, then Let It Roll, then Attack of the Mad Axeman, then Natural Thing, then Armed & Ready. They also play Too Hot To Handle and finish with Only You Can Rock Me.

GTFOH!!!! The 3 mcAuley Schenker lps brought something to the table on a way no band could. The almost funky things of feels like a good thing, the ufo alike songs like ready to rock and other things were out off the equation. Yes, those lps had some hair metal flavor to them, but the compositions were far more refined and meaningful, the ballads were serious contendors to the ones Scorpions create, and thats a lot to say the least. That era was buried when grunge came, as were many many great acts like Badlands, Tall Stories, and many more. The direction McAuley Schenker s craft was attaining was really fresh, creatively, while not being far from the obvious. A thing Michael s music has always had. He's a titan guitarist, but he's never played something unique, song wise. His playing s one off a kind though.
