Michael had a lump removed before going on a sailing trip- it was a squamous cell cancer, which was smoothly taken out with clear margins.
But by the time he returned, the lump had returned, and he was in immense pain.
Significant surgery was suggested as the only course of action- losing the nerves in the face, losing an ear, and following up with radiation therapy.
However- Michael’s story has a happy ending, thanks to the doctors at Chris O’Brien Lifehouse.
