@@TUPELO_HUNNY unexpectedly one day after I ate a had pain in my abdomen, a fullness that I could stop feeling. It was horrible, then suddenly I vomited and felt immediately better. Didn't think anything of it just thought I ate too much or ate something that didn't agree with me. Happened several times a d went to my family Dr and they did an ultrasound and an MRI. Voila' pancreatic cancer. 😩 I finished radiation now and waiting for another CT scan. Wish me luck. Take care

So grateful I found this video and your story Michele, my wife is on round 7 of chemo for pancreatic cancer. She was diagnosed at age 53 in February - stage 1B, but the chemo has shrunk her tumor to under 2cm and we are scheduled for whipple at the end of July after round 8 of chemo 2 weeks from now. We are then scheduled for 4 rounds of chemo afterwards. We are praying for a successful surgery and clean margins - our journey mirrors yours, as we are recent empty nesters with what we were hoping would be a good 30 years ahead of us of travel and enjoying each other. I so very much identify with your "closing window" of time, all of the sudden it seems like it could be a lot shorter; but we are still hopeful and on the path to face down pancreatic cancer and fight it and very likely win - we hope! Thank you so much for sharing your story! I would love to hear more details about your recovery from the whipple, my wife is dreading that most of all. Wishing you and your family all the best!

It's a surgical treatment for pancreatic cancer. This MD Andersen article describes it very well: www.mdanderson.org/cancerwise/whipple-procedure-and-pancreatic-cancer-treatment-9-things-to-know.h00-159459267.html#:~:text=The%20Whipple%20procedure%20is%20a,that%20connects%20to%20the%20stomach.

I had one 10 years ago and it’s a life altering surgery where they literally redo do your insides ( digestive system). It’s extremely complex and I had to sign a paper before surgery acknowledging I might not make it through the procedure. They took half my stomach, the head of the pancreas, the jejunum (sp), then reroute that to go directly to your stomach. Living as long as I have is totally a miracle! Most live 5 years.

Robin Anderson, I was 78 when I had the Whipple done. I’m thrilled to be thinner, to feel well, and I almost never have a “dump”. My own fault as I probably ate too much. A heating pad helps tons if it happens. Might I ask what stage you were? They took 2/3 of my pancreas and I was at the beginning and it was encapsulated in a benign tumor, lucky, lucky lady.

While seatching for medical treatment you can have a look on the page of the university of Heidelberg (Germany) and their "Patienteninformation" about broccoli sprouts and their content SULFORAPHAN. I had whipple surgery including pancreasektomie a year ago, had mFolfirinox therapy then and take sulforaphan capsules in addition to broccoli sprouts now for more than the last 8 months. Have a look and may be you 'll give it a try too... Best wishes to you from Berlin 💜

Does anyone survive Whipple procedure?
@project_purple
Жыл бұрын
Yes. Survival rates of pancreatic cancer are higher following a Whipple Procedure. It is recommended to be treated by a surgeon who does many of these operations and to have the surgery at a hospital where many of them are done.

Can anyone do the genetic testing to evaluate for predisposition of cancer risk? Who would order this?
@shetlandsheep3081
Жыл бұрын
@@tatianaschoenfield9819 certain genes are tested for if you have a cancer that is linked to others eg I had ovarian cancer and was tested for both BRAC1 and 2, not only bc its linked to breast cancer (and pancreatic cancer) but for your family to know if they need to test too. I was negative for both but if I had been positive my sister for eg would have been offered testing free. General population testing where you dont have cancer would likely (in UK at least( be something you would pay for privately, unless you were a family member of someone shown to have brac1 or 2, in which case it is paid for by our health service.

Yes they sure do. I had Whipple surgery after 6 chemo treatments of redfuryknox. I went to Mayo in Jax as I wanted a Dr. Who had great experience with it. I never( I mean never) had a bit of pain and was cut sideways between my breasts down to my bellybutton. A letter T. Glued together, yay, no stitches. Went home on 6 th day, and have done well. No sign of anything and March is 3 years!👍 I am now dealing with breast cancer, but this has nothing to do with the first one. Something older women get ,he said. I did radiation in surgery and one chemo. Taxol. I’m going to be 80 in July and I quit it all. Quality is more important now. Enjoying life. I wish you all the best health. Hugs
