@MIGHTYcbu that is basically what a bike wheel is, they just found a way to integrate spokes that can fit around an existing hub style for a car, they obviously had to make them out of somthing other than thin peices of metal.

if they use any pressure, the wheel can be punctured. The whole point with the tweel is that it's immune to punture.

Self-correction, Those are NiMH batteries that cost roughly $800.00, which are 7/8" less deep than li-ion. Impact would have been much more jarring had he been on the updated batteries.

Those sorts of cars usually have higher pressures, for which you would want a tougher tweel. The ones shown here are pretty soft.

because never-flats (or run-flats as theyre acualy called) still contain air. They are essentialy a regular tire, with a hard rubber ring inserted into them. So when you have a blow out, there is still a rather harsh drop in ride hight (wich can cause loss of control), as well as a loss of the structual ridgity of the tire (wich can also cause a severe loss in control).

i first heard about this 4 years ago from a michelin rep when i was working as a wholesale distributor. back then they had road noise issues. marketing wise, the tire and wheel have to sold together because the rubber doesn't simply mount to the rim like a normal tire. so michelin would have to have a contract on newly released vehicles for fitment reasons if this was to be cost effective. any older model vehicles i would imagine would be special order and be very costly.

I would assume production tweels would have walls if only to prevent vandalisation and the freezing thing like PolluteLessDotCom said. That said, if they build a lorry tweel, I cannot help thinking that will save lives, when those tires explode lorries end up in the wrong place
They need to integrate those with the next gen hybrids!

Yikes those things would be hard to trust. But however, quite easy to check condition. I fear that hard corners would cause them to roll under, that means, the perpindicular force of the car turning sharp or hard enough in a emergency for example, could cause the wheel to malfunction, and thus cause you to keep going the direction you are trying to avoid, IE, a cliff.

if this ever goes to market it will be outlawed due to the fact that this is immune to police spike strips
@JD0x0
13 жыл бұрын
@roflcoptergoesscisci there are other tires that spike strips wont work on. Solid race slicks for example, hold no air, they are solid rubber. A spike strip might tear up the rubber a little bit but having no air it wouldnt deflate and still be drivable. And race slicks would make those sports cars go even faster, as long as the road isnt wet. And BTW europe has faster sports cars than the US and slower police cars. With the exception of the italian lambo police cars in Italy.
