jaivomi because she spoke generically about the army. There are thousands of women in the army all in different job roles and yet they all get treated differently than the blokes. You want equality yet you're treated differently. Maybe it's not their fault, maybe the people in charge are treating them differently. But I know the standards are different between males and females.

if you have been in the military you would know why "our girl" is incredibly stupid and for me personally its hard to take things with female soldiers in them seriously when i saw 3000+ women fail the school of infantry and others cry over the squad radio that a patrol was too hard for them when they were carrying less gear than the men

Olivia Gardner where are the Australian army fighting? I'm not saying there aren't women in the army, there are loads. I'm also not saying that when women are on operations they just sit in camp. The problem that people have and when I say people I mean men and women alike, they don't understand the army at all. Not all of us are infantry, now the infantry is an army's man fighting echelon, they are the people that routinely go out on patrol, then you have everyone else, engineers, medics, tanks, artillery and so on. At the moment there are no women in the infantry in the British army. There are women in other parts of the army, but in front line combat units ie tanks and infantry etc, all of the units that actually are supposed to kill people there aren't any women. But that doesn't mean that the units that women are in won't ever see combat, of course they will, it's the nature of the beast. All parts of the army are there to purely support the infantry and any other front line combat units and the infantry and tank regiments support each other. The big issue is because civilians think that the in the army everyone is a front line soldier. It's not the case, in some countries there are women serving in the infantry and they are very very good.

The one (had I not been born with a medical condition that would render me unfit to serve) would have certainly signed up with more I suppose they call it services rather than infantry, the Royal Signals essentially the IT and Comms regiment. Essentially becoming a trades person, but something is much greater which would allow me to serve in what I believe truly is higher up yet still serving the country, I lack the real knowledge of the definition heard of them being called teeth arms but certainly not infantry. Though of course from a male perspective lol.

I honestly think that it's so sad that all the comments are sexist and against women having the ability to succeed in the military. Our Girl is one of the best military dramas that I've seen and I think that having a woman being the main character of a military-based show is exactly what this world needs to show everyone that women have the same capabilities as men. Michelle Keegan has done a wonderful acting job and a great job of portraying a real army medic as best you can considering it's an entertainment show.

I don't have a problem with the drama and I realise it's all fiction but there comes a point when you cannot suspend disbelief any further. The regular disobeying of orders is impossible to ignore. No reduction in rank, no ROPs, no visible evidence of reprimands in her permanent record. Just some haughty stuffed shirt of a senior officer feeling huffed. The Armed Forces have rules for a reason. You follow the rules or you might end up dead or you might end up directly or indirectly killing some or all of your mates. I have to give a special shout out to the military advisor who worked on the latest series (2020), specifically and exclusively regarding the incident at the Small Arms Range. When the cadet was called out for turning the weapon as he turned and it was no longer pointing down the range. If you intend to turn away from the range, you have to make safe your weapon and holster it. Took me right back to the PSIs yelling at a numpty who wasn't paying attention. P.S. Never happened to me, definitely. I applaud every serving member of Her Majesty's Armed Forces, wherever they serve. Gender, Orientation, Colour, Creed, whatever. You are all heroes and the nation owes you a debt of gratitude.

I don’t disagree with it as a drama but the fact they bang on about having military advisors on set confuses me because anyone that’s served longer than about a year cannot get through an episode without finding multiple errors wether it be uniform, tactics or general military knowledge it’s a poor representation of the British army I know it’s not a documentary but when producers and actors claim it’s realism and bang on about these so called ‘advisors’ it’s a bit of an insult to those that have actually done it for real

I was going to comment but I know no matter what I say it will be wrong. Charlene is a "combat medic", the two key words in that are "combat" and "medic" however that does not mean she does the same as a man, unless of course that man just happens to be a "combat medic". She is not infantry, she does not carry 60kg of mortar kit, or 45-50kg of patrol kit, yeah her med bergen is heavy and you put that with body armour and weapon and ammo and it will equate to about 45-50kg but my body armour and ammo alone weighed 32kg in Afghanistan plus my weapon, plus my daysack with 5-8L of water, plus the extra ammo, plus rocket illum, plus ecm, plus spare batteries etc etc. The fact is, it's not about what women can do or can't do, it is about what they are doing. Women are on the frontline but not in infantry, there are plenty of women in the engineers, in the med corps, in the RMP, in the working dogs, in the int cells, etc etc. I once had a clerk who was more qualified than some of the riflemen in my company, so she would go out vehicle patrols, plus if there is a female you need to question guess who's doing it. The problem is that there are so many people in this world that are so confused about what actually goes on in the military they think it is OK to make shit up, for instance Charlene in this video didn't help when she said she does everything a make does, well that's simply not true. Thanks for your time taken to read my comment. Ten years still serving in the infantry, Regards.

are you saying that a male combat medic and a female combat medic don't do the same work? I thought the whole point of this video, if not the entire TV show, is to show that they do. I quote your earlier comment, "the two key words in that are "combat" and "medic" however that does not mean she does the same as a man, unless of course that man just happens to be a "combat medic"".. ...... so they do do the same work? You're confusing and contradictory!
@SLUGZGamingchannel
6 жыл бұрын
Sarah Harvey there is nothing contradictory about what I said. I said the only male role in the army that she does the equivalent is a male combat medic. Can you not read? The whole point I'm trying to make and it's one that has been confused extensively is that job roles in the army are considered to be the same no matter what.
@SLUGZGamingchannel
6 жыл бұрын
Sarah Harvey the only people that are getting confused about what job roles exist within the army are stupid civvies who think that the army is just a group of people that all do the same stuff. Plus at no point did I slag her off saying she is incapable of doing a job that a guy does, there are plenty of women in the army in non combat roles who could put infanteer to shame and I am an infanteer saying this. So please don't think I'm being sexist, it has nothing to do with that. It's to do with people thinking that an engineer or a medic or a bombardier are all the same as any infanteer. The jobs within the army are all very different, however due to stupid politics there is not equality, the standards for women to join the army are lower, they have to carry less and they have more time on runs but yet they are still expected to be able to carry a guy weighing 100+kg on their shoulders. Now tell me, do you think that is fair? Do you think it is equal? They get treated softer by heirachy due to being emotionally different, I constantly see and hear about women in the forces making complaints about how they were treated, I'm sorry you're in the army it's supposed to be tough. A few years ago a group of women sued the RAF because they were made to march at a longer stride, so the RAF had to change its pace to a 27" pace instead of the forces standard of 30". How? Why? I'm not pissed off with women in the army, the majority of them are OK, I am pissed off with the politics of how they are treated equally and yet differently.

One of my friends brother had a stroke due to cancer treatment. Called ambulance, driving distance to hospital max 15 minutes (normal driving!!), the ambulance took 40 minutes! It was two women operating it and THEY COULD NOT LIFT HIM TO THE AMBULANCE!! A neighbor, a man, had to lift him to it. * THERE ARE SOME JOBS WOMEN DO NOT BELONG IN, PERIOD! * The brother lost function in the right arm, damaged eye sight more in the left eye than the right. He can barely walk due to nearly all function lost in the right leg. He can not go out without help, he can not shop on his own, he is not allowed to drive anymore (is his passion), etc, he have had behavioral changes, his girlfriend cheated on him (started after he got the stroke, he was not good enough anymore), she started training to get in shape immediately after the stroke, she was waiting on him to feel better so she could leave him, so it would not look as disgusting as she is The kicker: He is only in his twenties. It would be a better outcome if he had gotten to the hospital much much sooner (Brain cells start to die after around 5 minutes).
@psx2codes1
6 жыл бұрын
So, if this story is true and there are no important details left out, it sounds like two women from one particular hospital did a real shit job. Sucks. I truly feel for your friend's brother, its a tragedy. BUT this is not enough to say that women shouldn't be allowed in that job. It could be just these women, or malpractice on part of the hospital (insufficient training, etc.). It isn't fair to every woman who wants this job to deny them because these two failed. It IS important to make sure that a person can do the job they are hired to do, regardless of gender. It sounds like that is something whoever manages these people didn't do. It doesn't matter if you're a woman/man/whatever, it matters if you can do the job. If a hundred women can't, but one woman can, don't disallow the one woman who can because a hundred before her failed. That doesn't make sense.
