Becoming is a decent memoir but I enjoyed Dreams from my Father more. Michelle can do anything but Barack is a true writer.
@onasorenson6104
5 жыл бұрын
Disagree. Becoming is a more honest and certainly more verifiable memoir that draws the reader in, and has positively touched and affected every class of people and of different races, religions and educational backgrounds - and in every part of the world. Writing in a way that allows as many in, even those who’ve never read a book, and those who haven’t read one in a long time, is not only genius, but has importantly, created a whole new audience of book readers! Becoming is unpretentious, just like the author, and she is as generous and gracious, and mostly downplays herself as usual, while giving everyone else credit. Where Dreams is mostly massaged and embellished and pretentious. The author tries too hard, and plays entirely to certain audiences. Dreams is in the end, a not always accurate or verifiable account of a rather self-absorbed, ambitious budding politician’s life story.
