Wow! Most men even feel shy matching up with Jackie in movies let alone women. My standing ovation to Michelle Yeoh.

Ashamed to be a distant relative of Michelle Yeoh. She became famous through subscribing to political means and not her skill. She was not even in the top echelon of HK actresses maybe more as action power movies. Jackie Chan is so smart for a non degree holder. I guess he learnt it from the streets of HK intense rat race culture. Immense respect.

I liked the fact Michelle is a strong woman and can stand up to Jackie Chan tell him the painful truth to his face like in the Letterman show in 1997 she calls Jackie "a chauvinistic pig" because Jackie insults women by saying that their jobs are to stand behind the kitchen counters and cook foods for them and have them prepared and served and clean for the dominant males

He EARNED that Oscar for his lifelong contributions and influence in film. This includes not only acting but also directing, producing, editing, musical composition and action choreography which forever changed the way action movies specifically and movies in general are filmed and presented. So to minimize this honor for him is at the very least...ignorant.

@@cherylcohen5700 true but I’ve don’t have much respect for this man. Many years ago when he was young, he and his friends insulted a woman who eventually committed suicide. He has an illegitimate daughter in Canada who is living in extreme poverty. She can be seen lining up outside soup kitchen in Vancouver. A HKG reporter covered this story but was quickly shut down. He sired her and he should have cared for her. But he didn’t. This tells you he is not the perfect man everyone thinks he is . These are hush hush news in HKG entertainment industry. If anyone deserves a belated Oscar it is U S born James Zhong. He’s been in show biz for 60 years. He’s 91 now & deserves it more than Jackie Chan. Who’s the ignorant one now?

@@nh6870 people make mistakes in life and nothing can change what has already occured, however, I personally feel that they should not FOREVER be condemned for their ENTIRE life without chance of redemption for bad decisions they may have made in the past... as for his daughter...her mother once stated that she didn't want to be a part of Jackies world and the daughter stated that she didn't want or need a relationship with her mother OR her father. She is an adult women who makes her own decisions and is responsible for her own future just like her poverty stricken indigent father was before his own blood sweat and tears paved the way for his own eventual success. Since neither one of us has first hand information or are in their inner family circle, it's nobodies business except those who are personally involved leaving any speculation on par with tabloid fodder.

@@cherylcohen5700 if the young woman who committed suicide was your sister or daughter or even a close friend, you’ll probably won’t be as forgiving. Anytime a man sires a child regardless of circumstances, he is obligated to take care of that child no matter what. He could have set up an account for the mom and daughter and leave it up to them to choose to whether use it or not to better their circumstances. If any child of a person refuses to have anything to do with a parent , it’s likely because they feel very hurt or neglected. Please do not try to justify his actions for him. He wasn’t condemn bcoz not many knew of his actions except perhaps now a part of his character is exposed.

Any death is a sad thing, however, anyone who would take their own life for ANY reason is someone who did not receive the mental healrh care they needed to begin with. I was not there and as far as I know, neither were you. Some Japanese female fans back in the day commited or attempted suicide when they found out that he had a girlfriend. You can not predict or control what is in another person's mind, especially when there are literally THOUSANDS of them, most of whom you don"t know and have never even met.
Michelle has a lot of clout, her father was a powerful political figure in Malaysia, economically elite status too. Of course she could do what she did, people with options usually possess more courage than others. 😁

Blah... He was born in 1954. His family...what little bit that he saw of it was a traditional Chinese cultural dynamic of the time. Father was dominant and mother was the nuturer responsible for the upkeep of family and home. He was essentially sold to the Chinese Opera at the age of 7 and spent the next 10 years enduring physical & mental torture, near starvation, and daily beatings under a closed, mainly patriarcal society ruled by a single dominant male figure. The pecking order was decided from eldest to youngest and even to this day, Jackie refers to Sammo Hung as Biggest Brother and elavates him above himself. Growing up, women and girls weren't even considered as holding a place. This is what he was taught from a young age so the fact that his views have changed over many years is something in itself.
