@@Valen-xu2wy I think it's only natural that people point out "the first" in anything that has typically only been won or done by one set or type of people because it's breaking the mold. This happens everywhere, not just at the Oscars. When a 14 year old graduates from college, it's a story, because he's the youngest student to do that at a school for example. It's interesting because it's not been done before. The good thing about a first is, after they've won or accomplished something, in this case, another female leading Asian actress winning in the future, will be normalized as opposed to an anomaly. According to the results of 10,000 voters, she was the best. You certainly don't have to agree, but she was selected from a group which statistically does not include many Asians so I'm not sure you can call bias on that one.

I definitely echo the sentiment, don't let anyone tell you, you have passed your prime. No matter what the "it" is, there will always be someone telling you, you can't do that, or it's too late, or trying to discourage you from your dreams but the people who accomplish anything in this life NEVER listen to those voices. They listen to their own, and it's the reason they do more, see more, and accomplish more because they don't let no get in their way. They take on the struggle and keep pushing and if nothing else in life, they know they have lived one without regret because they actually tried.

Halle Berry was actually first runner up in Miss USA '86 but was appointed as miss world usa where she finished top 7 in miss world that year (6th place overall). Halle was best friend with miss Trinidad and Tobago Giselle Laronde in the pageant, Halle was "crowned" as winner in the dress rehearsal while her best friend Giselle was eventually crowned miss world '86. Part of miss world prizes that time was a Hollywood contract, Giselle refused it to focus on her studies and asked the Miss world organizers to give the Hollywood contract to Halle. And the rest was history... Michelle Yeoh was miss Malaysia '83, she was sent in miss world '83 but failed to crack the top 15 (it was rumored she was 17th in preliminaries) Both Michelle and Halle were "Bond Girls" during the time of Pierce Brosnan I love both actresses since the 90s!
