I've watched all of Michigan's first five games. It has been apparent to me that they've been working really hard to build up their depth. We've seen all types of inexperienced players on defense, along the O-line, wide receiver, and QB. On defense we've seen a lot of non-starters Amir Hall, Wesley Walker, TJ Guy, Jimmy Rolder, JaDen McBurrows, Dominic Nichols, and several other younger players getting reps in some critical moments. Will Johnson and Josiah Stewart didn't even play one snap against Minnesota and they are two of the best players on the entire roster. A large portion of the TD's they've given up on the season have been when some backups are getting starters a rest in the second half. And for better or for worse, now they've got both Davis Warren and Alex Orji some experience and the O-line is coming together a little bit more as we've seen eight different guys getting some work in games. All that collective experience together on the field could really help build this team and have them ready for a big push in the second half of this season.

If Vegas made Michigan -2 … the sharps would hammer the home underdog - and all the pro money would be on the home dog. They don’t want that. Setting lines has nothing to do w/ teams playing - it has to do w/ where money is gonna come in. Vegas wants an even split on a game. Setting UW up as a favorite is gonna have more money come in on Michigan - which is what they want.

Much was made about Michigan ranking 128 of 134 for returning production going into this season. None of the pundits in the major media outlets have mentioned the fact that Washington came into the season ranked 130 of 134 for returning production. The odds makers have completely abandoned reason in dealing with the defending National Champions.

If Michigan is an underdog then their ranking is more to do with their win vs USC than their ability to beat a quality team consistently. It's hard to feel confident with Michigan beating any quality team. I guess this is why we play the game.

Ranking have nothing to do with Vegas spreads. Rankings are based on results...spreads are based on what Vegas would consider the likely outcome but it's meaningless. Michigan was a dog to USC, and won.

I think this year the skepticism seems to be warranted but that’s always been the narrative on Michigan, even last year. Even last year OSU was a 3 point favorite vs Michigan… I think the style of football they play messes with the “eye test”

Michigan barely wins 24-23. Despite being a long-time Michigan fan, I wouldn't be surprised if this game becomes a loss for my Wolverines given that it's the first away game in a tough atmosphere some 2000 miles away. Hoping for the best, but we're probably not the #10 team in the country with our struggling passing game.

So who is “They” really in “They know something?”. Does a Vegas insider working with sportsbooks have some kind of ringer edge?

The sample size is too early. Look at their strength of schedule, give it a few more weeks to allow schedules to more even out to make these stats more relevant now that conference play has begun. Almost anyone can run up the score on powder puff teams early on in the season.

Washington has a lot of former nfl coaches and would think that thay will have a goog plan to stop Michigan and score on Michigans defense but Michigan might just out skill Washington with there high end talent

please explain to me how Michigan's QB (Orji) is a liability?
@jinsunwoo1709
11 сағат бұрын
@jacobheminger5275 He can't throw a forward pass, for God's sake. The coaches are afraid to let him throw the forward pass. That is a liability on the part of a quarterback. Once opposing teams crowd the line of scrimmage at the start of the game instead of waiting till the second half, Michigan will find it harder to score. That's what I mean.

@@jinsunwoo1709You are 100% correct! Orji's down field ability is probably VERY questionable so they'll need to get creative for short / intermediate plays. Unless they can develop Orji Michigan will be lucky to win 7 to 8 games this year. Now IF they can develop Orji (he's already looked a lot better vs Minnesota compared to his first start) and continue to be more creative in the play calling then they could possibly get to 10 wins, that's the likely ceiling though and that's a pretty big "if".

@@jinsunwoo1709 have you ever watched michigan the past 4 years? in his 2 starts he is averaging 15 attempts a game (1 game vs a top 12 team and one in constant rain lmfao) I would not say they are afraid to let him throw. Not to mention you are completely ignoring that he would rank 10th in the big10 in QB RTG if he met the minimum attempts needed and removed the Texas game (never attempted a pass). He has 2 starts and showed solid improvement from USC to Minn. you just dont understand what you are looking at if you disagree. Fully expect him to look better each week. Not to mention its not the QBs fault when your pass pro ranks 111th and receiving ranks 108th according to PFF.
