The Michin Aquarium in Guadalajara was inaugurated on March 18, 2017 and one of its objectives is for people to learn about environmental education, to also understand the importance of taking care of the environment and thus create awareness to recover this environment.
The aquarium has 5 pavilions which will take you on a journey through Mexico and its diversity, each pavilion refers to a region of Mexico and each one represents the predominant culture of that area.
This Aquarium is a great tourist attraction in Guadalajara. The shark tank is spectacular and highly recommended for local visitors as well as for people visiting the city. Our entrance fee on March 1, 2023 was 250 pesos.
It is a very nice place with a great variety of species and sizes of fish, plus recreation areas for the little ones and farm animals where children can meet and interact with the animals. Your entrance fee includes food to feed the birds in the aviary.
We arrived by taking the metro (light rail) line 3 and got off at the LA NORMAL Cetram station and it is only a 3 minute walk from the station. This metro line is new, modern, safe and fast to get to. Only 10 pesos.
Mixteca Pavilion
This pavilion will make you feel like you are closer to the Mexican Pacific coast and the jungles that are also found in this region. The animals you can admire in this pavilion are crocodiles, river otters and agapornis, and you can also interact with the Australian parakeets in the aviary.

In the Olmeca pavilion you will find the largest tank of the entire aquarium, where you can admire the 2,000 specimens that stand out among the impressive bull sharks, reef catsharks, and blacktip sharks, as well as the incredible whip rays and brown thornback stingrays.
Wixarica Pavilion
This pavilion represents the western zone of Mexico, here you can admire the terrariums that house the impressive reptiles, amphibians and freshwater fish. This pavilion is the one that has the most direct relationship with the land.
Mayan Pavilion
This pavilion represents the beauty of the Mexican Caribbean and here you can see the beauty of the colorful and super flashy reef fish. There is also a contact pool with invertebrate species or echinoderms.
