Brian’s swan song. He didn’t go out with a whimper. He went out making that one of the best songs on Beggar’s Banquet.

But, he's on recordings from after this.

@@TheBrianJonesResource Yeah but this one sticks out as an exceptional contribution. I know he did autoharp and percussion on bleed. Neither that memorable.

I agree man, they ridiculed and tortured him constantly. It's a wonder Brian lasted as long as he did in that band. The saddest quote I ever read was after Brian was kicked out of the band. Brian said, "They took my music, they took my band, and they took my woman." Even Bill Wyman said in his book, Stone Alone, "Andrew Loog Oldham, Mick, and Keith were the unholy trinity. After they moved in together, it was them against Brian."

What is your take on Brian's contribution to Jumpin Jack Flash? I am seeing he used a 65' Rickenbacker 360/12 Fireglo, but can not figure out which guitar is it in the Studio cut or even an outtake. I do believe that is him on maracas. any thoughts on this? thanks steve

There's no 12 string on JJF. Have a listen and read of the description of this: kzitem.info/news/bejne/kYdr2olpcHRoon4 I posted about this more on the iorr tell me forum. Should probably post it here too. I doubt Brian's guitar playing is audible on JJF.

@@TheBrianJonesResource OK then, NO identifiable guitar of Brian on JJF, only Maracas. Also, my correction, the guitar I read Brian used for JJF was Gibson ES-330TD. The combo of Keiths with the Nashville gives it that high sound. But, here is another questions. I am trying for the life of me to make sure the LEADS in the chrous.....is Keith on acoustic.playing them. Even though it sounds so electric. No electric guitars at all (just bass). thoughts on that?

No nashville tuning and acoustic was only used for the basic cassette recording which is a muffled distorted sound underneath everything. All overdubs done on 8 track, all electric guitars. Atleast 4. Through time Keith's telling of this recording just got more muddled.

The Philips cassette recorder was used for 3 songs. SFM, JJF and Parachute Woman. In all 3 instances it was only used for the recording of a basic track which featured Keith on acoustic, Charlie on percussion for all 3, plus Brian on sitar for SFM. The basic cassette recording then got played back with a mic on an extension speaker recording the playback to 1 track of an 8 track machine. Everything after that was overdubs via the usual means. What sounds electric is electric.

@@TheBrianJonesResource I got to know where and why you believe there is no NASHVILLE tunings AND there are Electric guitars are on this. I am not doubting you but like to know the source to understand more. It may be just your ear telling you this. I think I hear a distorted Nashville in the chorus. Also, so many times Keith has said no electric. Where and how did you find this difference. So many reliable books point to the obvious and repeating thoughts. The Rolling Stones Gear book is pretty reliable, so I am confused on this and really need to know more!

Crossfire Hurricane is a great documentary, but I found it a bit odd they never showed the band being interviewed for the voiceovers. Morgen explained his reasoning but I still don’t like it.
