Mickey was one of the original rockers that were "suddenly' discovered in the New Wave scene of the 70s. A great showman and entertainer played pubs when it wasn't fashionable and wrote great pop songs "discovered" by new wave "punks" looking for a beat and a bit of passion. Onya MIckey!!!

We used to drink in the Cricketers pub where all the art students & the musos hung out. Mickey was always there, and did many gigs for us - he also played in the folk club! Still love his music after all these years!

Cricketers in Kennington? Used to drink there a lot in the 80s. Saw some great gigs. Wilko Johnson, Groundhogs, Pirates, Snowy White's Blues Agency, Johnny Mars, Geno Washington & Ram Jam, Eddie & Hot Rods + plenty of others. Great pub. Others I used to see regular back then in pubs were Jackie Lynton, Monday Band (+ Papa George & Steve Simpson solo bands), Ruthless Blues, Mick Clarke, Blues 'n' Trouble, Balham Alligators, Juice on the Loose, Red Beans & Rice, Big Town Playboys, Big Joe Louis & Blues Kings, Paul Lamb & King Snakes, Wolfie Witcher Brew, Fast Freddie & Fingertips, Steve Waller, Steve Warley, Elmores, Razors, Hoax, Brunel + plenty of others. Great times.

The only place I’ve heard played was on WHFS in metro D.C. 45+ years. If you were born in the 50’s and think songs like are great, you too are old rock and rollers

@@yamapenny5960 He is living in a small village in Midland UK. More or less retired only makes gigs at the local pub now and then. No proper album since 95. Such a shame!

Fan-bloody-tastic!! Juppanese was one of my favourite of the Pommy pub rockers, along with Dave Edmunds Nick Lowe and his labelmate Wreckless Eric. They just don't write songs like these anymore...sigh
@ruddhughes1200

They really do, check out John Hiatt and Nick Lowe, still producing stellar music of this type.
