The thing that helped me the most was getting my thyroid levels balanced. A stylist once told me that low iron, Zinc, or Vitamin D can also cause problems. I can’t recommend a comprehensive blood panel highly enough.

Thanks for your comment! I have had my thyroid checked twice and there weren't any issues there. I was told that I'm very low on Vitamin D....and I haven't been doing a good job of managing that.

Perhaps remove the locs from the places where you hair is fragile and let them grow without the tension of the extensions

Thanks for your comment and suggestion. That's actually what I ended up doing with a couple of them.

I was going to say protein 1...2 there are Anti breakage oils, conditioners etc and 8 weeks may be too long...you may need maintenance done at 3-4 weeks to start. My hair is the same way in the front but I'm not loc'd yet. Thinking of getting micro locs soon and I know it will be a struggle because I have the silky soft Spanish curl hair lol baby hair basically as an old supervisor used to call me lol but I would at least try protein if you haven't tried it already to help strengthen your hair. Some things are just genetics but doesn't mean we can't fix it

Thanks! Great recommendation. I actually haven't had a protein treatment in a while and didn't even think about it. I will mention it to my stylist when I go in for maintenance next week.

That’s definitely your hair growing, but yes ma’am that’s a reason to be nervous. She added too much human hair.

It could just be your hair is growing away from your loc. She will probably add the hair in the surrounding areas to strengthen it.

Thanks for your comment.. I'm not sure of what that is or how it happens. If that is the issue, do you think that means I should shorten my time between maintenance?

@B-Marie yes most definitely. I would have loc maintenance every 4-6 weeks to ensure the integrity of my locs.
