Speaking of database I am nor day nor beast, I am nor good nor evil, I am Earth and I am nature, I am me. It took me years and years of experience and self realization until I have found out who I am or partly of things that I am. You can encode that to your database.

@599CD

Nope. Sorry. I never really got into all that database theory stuff. My knowledge of Access is all practical - from building real-world databases for companies over the past 30 years. Not much need for ER diagrams there. Maybe one of these days I'll read a "real" book on database theory. :)

Brilliant video and teaching!! This has probably been asked.. Have you ever built a form with queries? Is it better to write forms directly from tables..or.. First build queries and then build your forms. Why im asking is because ..in your other videos you say "you don't want anyone to touch your tables" so is it safe to create your forms with tables directly..or do i first create queries..and the create forms qith the queries? Much appreciated!!
@599CD
2 жыл бұрын
You can build a form off of a query if you want, but your forms should always be based off one a SINGLE TABLE. If you need to bring in other information for display purposes, that's fine. But don't try to join two tables together and then be able to EDIT records from both of those tables in the same form. Use a form with a subform. One of my members recently asked a similar question. I've got a video coming up on this soon.

Hi, when in 'table' layout, creating record rows/data input, is it possible for Access 10 to detect and auto type matching record data that has been previously inputted? Example, previously inputted 'United States' would auto type (into row cell) from the first typed letter 'U' (and additional letters [ni..] if needed for detection against similar words) for convenience and speed of data input? If this can be done, how is it possible please??
@599CD
3 жыл бұрын
Not easily, no. You could use a combo box, but then you have to pre-populate the values. You could use an AfterUpdate event to add new items to that combo box table, but then we're back to what I originally said: not easily. LOL
