Just got Surface Laptop Studio with the RTX and Windows 11 Pro. It's amazing. The use-cases that I needed this for are working on a plane or in a mobile office (van/RV). You can leave the screen resting on your hands while typing underneath, which is great for a tight coach seat on most airlines. Pulling the screen forward in the "tent" mode also gets the screen at a comfortable angle away from the seat in front of you if you are just watching a video or sketching. I've been loading it with software and files (onedrive) all day today, and it isn't overheating, even with a docking station and 49" curved display as a second monitor. Another added benefit... the tent mode is great for using the laptop as a second display. Typically laptop screens are too far away or they interfere with the other screen(s), but this one is just the right size to sit below a standard monitor height and only the touchpad is exposed, making the screen close enough to read and/or touch without squinting or leaning, respectively. Last added benefit is the magnets that hold the screen its three primary position (laptop mode, tent, or flat), which keeps it steady in my mobile office vehicle. My Surface Book 3 was heavy and would close itself with any bump in the road and it also overheated when charging by an inverter.... not seeing either of these issues with the SLS. All around win and the best laptop I have owned.

The Book was a better design all around. They are catering to people who like to draw with this, and the Book was a more all around use it for anything type of Laptop. I have never ever used any of my pens with with Surfaces, and I've owned several, and I suspect 95% of people with laptops could not care any less about drawing with a Pen. So this a niche group they are catering too, and it's their top tier device, when 95% of us just want a good Laptop that is on par with Apple Build quality.

@GoofieNewfie
Жыл бұрын
Think you nailed most things ,except one. Actually 2, the Surface Book design was far superior and thinner. But the cooling is something that MS gets right and almost every other Windows laptop gets WRONG. These are laptops. Not desktops. Most Laptops have annoying fans on the bottom. Guess who doesn't...Apple. With bottom fans if you toss it on the couch, it suffocates, on the bed same thing, carpet, same thing, got pajamas on, same thing. You are constantly having to watch and worry if you are covering the fans up unless you are actually using it on a table. The Book had vents around the screen, because the screen was the computer, so was this even better, but at least with the side vents you can toss this wherever without it overheating due to fans being blocked. Like 99% of the people out there buying and reviewing laptops just don't understand this. I do agree aiming it at your hand is odd, they should have aimed it out back, but I will take this over yet another ancient old design with fans on the bottom all day, every day.

As someone who uses an iPad Pro with magic keyboard wit a similar form factor I would say it’s good for immersion and comfort/ease of use. Not having a keyboard in the way makes for a much more immersive experience in viewing content or just when you don’t need a keyboard. And with the iPad more often than not, im using the trackpad to scroll around bc its way less fatiguing to your arm to not have to raise it to navigate the device. I only raise my arm occasionally such as touch certain targets or drag things on the screen and even then I don’t necessarily have to. It makes more sense in actual use than it’d look

@UrAvgConsumer. I am still rocking on my Surface Pro 3 (2014), and Windows 11 is not coming over. Windows 10 last stand. My birthday was on 24 Nov. and was Surprised by my family with a Surface Laptop 4 (SL4)! However, their information gathering was cunning, but flawed when my daughter pretended to be wanting a Laptop for school which I suggested the SL4. If they had asked me what I would get for myself, or a more cunning question, what would THEIR Nerdy "FRIEND" would probably get, if they were fans of the Surface Pro computers but wanted more power? Then immediately I would have suggested this Surface Laptop Studio, because I knew the Surface Book # was on a long walk, off a short plank. However, I told them thank you and that appreciated their gift, but this morning, I am going to break it to them gently that I want to upgrade to this Surface Laptop Studio, while my gift is still wrapped in its hymen ( virgin ) packaging still. Typed on my Surface Pro 3, as it is on its last step on it overextended plank. Still love it though, but need more power for my business moves.
