Absolutely wonderful, but heart breaking to see what we have lost. I and I suspect many others would happily pay good money just to ride these lines, so scenic and beautiful, what a waste.

Wonderful film, we are fortunate that somebody went to the time and effort to film this, I wonder who that was? Thank you for sharing.

Such rare footage of Brecon, Talybont, Talyllyn Hay & Three Cocks stations, just superb! Are these recent "Mainline videos" from a private collection, the S&D closure film is also invaluable.

Marvellous. Thank you for not adding music, so we can use our memories and imagination to create the soundtrack.

Fascinating and valuable upload of important, historical film. By this time, 1962 - British railways were making huge financial losses. Few passengers to be seen here; near the end of this film, just look at all those steam engines fired up but was there very much traffic going on? Seems apparent that most of these branch lines were already heritage lines but the rail men and staff did not know it.

Great scenes! Several of the Class 2MT Ivatt 2-6-0's shown at Three Cocks Junction, also handled services on the old Mid-Wales line (Moat Lane to Three Cocks, via Builth Road Low Level) - always on the lookout for video/film shot on that line, but sadly not many people seem to have ventured there with either sort of camera.

How does it feel to live in a land where money is more important than people? Where anything and anyone that isn't making a profit gets chucked on the scrapheap? How many hearts broken by efficiency and modernity like in the comment below? I say long live and long love to inefficiency and weak performances, to ordinariness and slowness, to dirt and rust, to the small and apparently insignificant, to the unplanned and unwanted, to the unambitious and ungrabbing, to the humbly unsuccessful and unselfish - to the mass of us who seek neither power, fame nor wealth (and in not acting according to society's mad visions, do no harm to anyone or anything........!
