GREAT to see you!! There is no need. It's too late to aplogize😂 Still awaiting your Passenger review, love your gleanings. And Im glad you and The Falcon are compadres.... I, too, have been immersed in McCarthys' use of language....( I am not a writer, but I sure read differently now...) And you may just inspire me to take a Shakespeare challenge. Though that could mean I'll also need to read The Bible 😢 yikes. Too much of our literature uses their motifs....(?) I'm struggling with Paradise Lost.

Hello! The Shakespeare challenge is changing how I read also but McCarty is doing a lot of lifting there. LOL. I have started Paradise Lost and then put it down. I wasn't ready to read it at the time. But that time is coming closer. It's a challenge to read those old written forms as both the art of writing and reading has changed. I believe reading to be an artistic endeavour as well. You can do it!

I'd recommend reading Lord of Dark Places by Hal Bennett since you were looking for more transgressive works from your SotE review. Basically the work takes a lot of the ideas from Bataille but with the added mix of black issues vs white America, published 1970, so like stereotypes, the white church, the relationship of homosexuality and how homophobic the black community can be while wanting racial equality. As a black man myself it was a very cathartic felt like a very authentic book. I will say there is heavy use of the n word with the hard R and the f slur.

Hello! I had heard of Lord of Dark Places, but thank you for recommending it. I will put in on my ever growing TBR. Are you a big reader of transgressive fiction? I find it a very interesting category as I'm sure lost of books could be considered transgressive but mostly books in the last 100 years get the categorical title.

New subscriber, here. I love your channel because you have incredible analysis of your reads. Do you have a video of how you analyze the books? I’m working on watching your back-stories, but I’ve not found anything yet.

Hello and welcome to my channel. Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. I haven't made that video yet but I had been thinking about putting together a video about what I've learned over the last 2 years of trying to get better at analyzing books. I wasn't sure if anyone would be interested in it. Thank you for letting me know.

Hello and welcome to my channel. That is a bottle of 12 year Redbreast on the bar. But, that is my friend's bar as I was out of town and visiting her at the time. We both like Irish whiskey.

@@ItsTooLatetoApologize Redbreast is a sleeper. I can't believe how few people in the States have heard of it. Love Jameson, but there are so many more Irish whiskies out there to try. That one is a favorite. Thanks for the content and I look forward to checking out more :)

Stella, I REALLY enjoy your channel. Selfishly, I wish you'd upload more because, well, you're awesome and we have the same taste in books. I went and perused all the channels that you shouted-out and I subbed to all but one. They look right up my alley! Thank you for continuing to show up even when you're busy and overwhelmed. We will all be here waiting.

Hey, thnx for doing the tag! :D Some interesting answers. I'm eagerly awaiting your analysis of The Passenger. Like, really really eagerly awaiting that one. :) And I'll also be really interested to hear your take on Infinite Jest. Hope you end up liking that book as much as I did; probably the most fun reading experience I've ever had, and basically like the one postmodern book I truly love. And that's neat to hear you're a fan of Academy of Ideas too. Very vital voice in these times, I think. :)

I prefer Homer over Virgil. Maybe because I've read more (translations, of course) of Homer than Virgil. The prof. I had for Virgil was not nearly as entertaining as my Homer, or my Dante profs. And Dante adored Virgil.............

Some academics are putting forth the theory that Homer was female. I've only read about the paper, hard for me to access current published papers..... :/ btw, reading Across The Wire....Army Brat? Veteran? @@ItsTooLatetoApologize

@@geraldchristensen2826 I had heard that a part of the theory of Homer possibly being a woman was because a battle ax is described incorrectly. This seems like a silly assumption to make on such a slim burden of proof as we all know that scholarly men are very well versed in wielding battle axes. LOL! I can't remember the rest of the clues discussed but Lady of the Library discussed this over on her channel. Published papers can be hard to get a hold of without paying a lot for papers unrelated to ones quandary. You are reading my book? Thank you so much. I hope you like it. I am neither an Army Brat or a Veteran, but I do know a few veterans.
