Thank you so much for posting this video! I think I just diagnosed my Mom’s stroke that I’ve been unable to get answers about. My Mom suffered stroke in the pons region in 2018 & I educated myself with KZitem videos so I could help her as much as possible. Yesterday she suffered her 2nd major stroke. Thankfully I was with her at the time & immediately knew the signs - EMS arrived within 12 minutes & she was in the ER receiving TPA within 30-40 minutes of the initial start of the stroke. Today she had her MRI that showed damage to the MCA. I tried to get as many answers as possible from the ER doctor but he wanted me to wait until her usual neurologist made his rounds this evening. Unfortunately visiting hours for ICU ended at 7 & the doctor didn’t come until 9. I called the nurses station & they read me the notes left on her chart but it was vague & didn’t say anything very specific. It’s currently 3 am my time, my adrenaline just doesn’t quit no matter how hard to try to relax. I can’t sleep & am worried about my mom. So, I am once again on KZitem trying to educate myself. I found your videos & feel like I’ve learned so much! I have so many helpful questions to ask the doctor & now I’m able to use correct terminology & know the areas myself. I am almost certain by watching this video my mom is experiencing Contralateral Neglect. She has no feeling on the entire left side of the body. No vision on the left, & impaired vision on the right. Her depth perception is way off when she tries to feed herself. If you approach her from the left or speak to her from the left she has no idea you’re there. Even when in front of her you have to make your intentions & speech clear to her or it just doesn’t register. The odd thing is, she can lift the left leg about 2 inches off the bed for a few seconds at a time. But can’t feel anything at all! She can’t move her arm at all. She is able to turn her head to the left but doesn’t do it often. Mostly positions herself to the right. She is also unaware of her left side at all. Part of why she doesn’t turn her head that way I would imagine. When asked about her arm she replied today “this is my arm” holding up the right side. The nurse asked “the other arm? The left!” & she replied that she didn’t have one. Just the one arm she was holding up. When you have her turn to look at her left side she asks “is that my arm?” & uses the right hand to pick it up & drops it not understanding that she is unable to hold that side up. Comprehension is not right, having trouble remembering things. The day of the stroke she didn’t know who I was at all. She kept asking me “who are you? Why are you touching me?”. Today, she knew who I was but repeatedly asked where we were, & seems to think when PT comes tomorrow that they’re going to let her out of bed. Has seen & commented on the fact she doesn’t recognize her own extremities.. but thinks she will be able to stand or possibly walk? & the mood swings.. 😰 killer. She is so angry! & rightfully so, who wouldn’t be in that situation? But man, this time it is 10X worse than the 1st stroke. We go from angry to upset, to hopeful, frustration, crying a lot then back through the cycle. It breaks my heart & I’ve felt so helpless but thanks to your videos I feel much more confident in my knowledge & what I need to ask about in order to provide my Mom with the most support that I can. I appreciate you so much! ❤️

@@amiranasser4271 Thank you so much! She has made some progress but is still not using her left side or having much awareness of it. She requires full time care still & I have been her caregiver since we left the hospital about 4 months ago. We have a long road ahead of us but it could’ve been much worse. I appreciate your comment! Take care ❤️

You say that superficial division infarcts may cause contralateral paralysis and sensory loss of lower face and Arms but not the lower limbs, because it is supplied by the anterior cerebral artery. But what if the patient also presents lenticulostriate arteries stroke, does the patient then complain about contralateral hemiparesis and sensory loss of the lower limbs? Because the internal capsule may be affected, which includes descending motor and sensory tract from body and face. Thanks in advance :) and great video

I think hemiparesis means half of body ,so I guess ofc in that case lower limb will be involved bcz if that's not the case ,then they shouldn't use this word hemiprasis, they would have used monoplagia or something ...idk 😐

Just a quick question. If the right cerebral artery is affected, does it cause ipsilateral or contralateral neglect?

I hope this is not too late and hope this makes sense. The MCA is apart of the dual blood supply to the occipital lobe and macula visual field, it joins with the PCA. The deep MCA branch also supplies the optic radiations. If there is damage to the occipital lobe, the macula may be spared in hemianopsia due to damage to only one blood supply. Look up macula sparing for more details. hope this helps

Magnesium chloride cleans blood vessels and therefore prevents and avoids stroke. Because it removes the fats from the blood vessels and impurities inside them that clog them up. It improves the varicose veins as well or makes them disappear, and lowers the pressure of those who have high blood pressure, making it lower and normalize and never getting high again. But it has to take for a while and then stop. It cannot take forever, because otherwise it may give some problem. Hope it helps everyone and hugs !
