In addition to Miele dryers, many other dryers have the problem that they make a knocking noise after years. It appears to be due to worn carbon brushes dragging over the drum. These brushes are part of the sensor that measures the moisture content of the wax.
As soon as a dryer makes a knocking noise, it is time to replace the carbon brushes. Don't wait too long! A broken brush can cause more damage.
The parts cost between 20 and 50 euros/pounds/dollars, depending on whether you replace just the brushes or the entire mechanism, as I show in the video.
Having a service technician do the same work costs half an hour labor and probably around 150 - 200 euros/pounds/dollars. So it pays to see if you can do it yourself.
Good luck!
