I have been there in 2006 - but I wasn't on the official area of the exhibition but on the other side of the airport, where the pilots go to do their turns to go back to the main display area as it isn't allowed at german airshows to do maneuvers flying in direction of the crowd after the Ramstein accident. So I was standing right under the MIG when the pilot did all the - at this time in 2006 - new post stall maneuvers. And I couldn't believe what I saw happening there right above me. I have a pilots license myself but this was never just expectable to "fly" an aircraft just like that. There were the SU's a year later bringing the OVT technic in series but as there was no KZitem at these days were you could just watch a video of this before it was absolutely new for all of us. And when I now see this I feel the same adrenalin rushing in me as I did 16 years ago. It is just amazing! It's like a ballet in the skies! It's pure arts!

Watching this it's almost a pity that aerial dogfights are pretty much a thing of the past, as dueling is what these aircraft are supremely good at - but of course it is better that we can appreciate them at air shows rather than have them actually battling it out in the skies above. These are magnificent machines, and their pilots are supremely skillful and courageous people, and let's hope they all lead peaceful lives.

The Russian equipment is also very robust, and easy to maintain. They are all also able to operate off grass fields and temporary rough air strips. Boy, that's one strong airframe to be able to handle and flex during the G forces involved in some of those maneuverers.
@basicforge
4 жыл бұрын
I'm sure the airframe must be strong, but the thrust vectoring allows you to make turns with pulling less G forces. Imagine a hand pushing the back of the jet left and right, up and down and making it turn. The wings do less work, and the plane can turn while it isn't even moving forward. It can turn even if it is just falling from the sky.

Good video, i love how engineering form & function comes together for something that exceeds them all.............. Wonderful what passion has on humanity, hoping we don't have to test all these "passions" out !

Mig29, beautiful aircraft coupled with a Russian pilot. Makes for one incredible video. Can you imagine if the US and Russia developed the next generation fighter, the best of US technology with the Russian resilience.

The Russians could just find a way to take the best of the other countries engineering reverse-engineer it for their own benefit. They have no desire to work with anyone that doesn't benefit them first and foremost

Be thankful this is a Test Pilot, and not a front line pilot.

It not impossible, just there are not much aircraft in the world can do this. Alot of RU aircraft from generation 3+ can do these manuver easy and also the the flipped wing SU 47 berkut can do alot more asgressive manuever like this, i recommended you to watch it one

Ok, am I missing something? Manoeuvres... I’m seeing that word go around a lot. Are y’all just bad at spelling, or is there something behind that? This is a genuine question, please enlighten me.
