One of our most expensive ongoing items is renting a dump/tipper truck to haul in materials. This goes on virtually every single day. Each day the dump truck makes about 4 or 5 trips bringing in gravel, stones, sand, or whatever other raw materials we require to complete our sustainable community, Migrating Culture Crossing.
If you're renting a truck this much then it doesn't take long before you have actually paid for it. So, we finally decided to simply purchase our own.
Initially we were going to go with a used dump truck, but after much consideration and investigation we decided against doing so, because of how important the truck is to completing our development. We simply cannot afford any downtime of this truck.
Also, during our investigation we learned that many of the trucks being sold have been changed to read Howo (which is the leading Chinese truck that everyone here wants to use) when really it is an older model called Hahan. In addition, many of these used trucks have hidden faults and they are altered so that they can be sold, but will experience problems shortly after they are purchased.
Therefore we are buying a brand new Howo Sinotruk from an authorized dealer in Ghana called Eratruck Ghana Ltd. They are one of the largest truck dealers in Africa and China and they offer a warranty and have branches that actually stock parts.
Also, if you haven't done so, check out our website at www.migratingculturecrossing.com and check out all of our floor plans.
