Thanks for posting this, from 1989. With streaming eclipsing broadcast TV this is a good look back at a time this was state of the art.

Incorrect - mixed polarisation refers to VHF and those portable radios would have vertical telescopic antennas not built in horizontal. The horizontal would be a ferrite rod for MW (AM)

Horizontal polarisation would be home receiving yagi type aerials for VHF.

Probably one near the IBA’s Engineering HQ in Winchester. So it’ll be Hannington, Midhurst or Rowridge.

Hannington with its nice views over Hampshire. Building to the right of Mike’s 4x4 Peugeot is the BBC transmission building. It’s very cool to see what is now empty spaces in this building.
